Just been looking at the new Rego charges. Bloody expensive or what! Looks like the 650-750cc bikes will lose their value - like why bother, might as well get a 1000 or 1200 or more. And what happens if your car is under 1300cc or over 4000cc?

still bloody expensive... especially if you have 3,4 or more vehicles to rego.
That's why 'some' are risking the $200 fine and not doing it... or putting them on hold.

We know for a bike, most of the licencing fee goes towards ACC, with the twisted but ever so slightly logical reason that a 650cc bike is more dangerous than a 600cc one.

Is the breakdown approx. the same for a passenger car? If so, why is a non-petrol car paying more ACC than a petrol car? Is a taxi more likely to crash than a private car? That's bullshit.

So why isn't the ACC levy included in the road user charge? Diesel powered cars still pay road user charges, for mine its about $40/1000 km.

I'm being shafted, I have a motorbike AND a diesel powered car!!!!

In the meantime I am probably gonna sell my bike and just get me an off-road only one. Too bloody expensive. Only ride it once a week as is. Will sell one car too... get my Jetski going again ...

He means that it costs a certain amount to register the vehicle for the first time and then each time you licence it after that it goes to the cheaper price. It doesn't mean that licenceing a vehicle is cheaper if you own more than one, but that licencing a vehicle is cheaper than registering it (i know its called a rego but it's actually a licence)

Totally.... nearly $600 a year!!? And what the heck do we get for that?!? NOTHING!!!

Well, except a hospital bed, income from ACC when we're off work, a damn helicopter to get us to said hospital if we need it, an ambulance or two maybe, x-rays paid for, a dozen support staff to tend to our wounds... should we ever need it.

What a bloody shafting eh


As for the OP... the government doesn't dictate what bikes I buy through a mere $120 a year... get real.
