    Warkworth

With apologies to Mom, Maha et.al. and making the point that this is about geography and not people.......

Warkworth is a festering abcess across SH1

Having had to pass through there 4 times in the last week, twice today alone, in the car (bike not an option due to Grandkids), I hate the place with a visceral passion.

Stop putting tarseal on the underused roads in the South Island - only 16 people live there and they are all related - and finish the bloody 4-lane motorway this year!

    So there

(reference to SH16 will see the poster's armpits cursed with the fleas of a thousand camels)

FWIW, I agree with you. I just couldn't resist the temptation to use this pic.

Well, its all your fault if you choose not to use SH16. Barely ever use SH1, so therefore hardly ever go through Warkworth.

    Nice pic

The only saving grace currently is that JK also plough through the same mess and is now making this a "road of national significance"

    Whatever that means

and you will just move the bottle neck about 12 miles north to Wellsford where SH16 joins the SH1

plans for a 4 lane highway to warkworth were on the drawing boards back in the 1970's maybe if the government spent less on social engineering there might be more money for roading

alternatively introduce and encourage other forms of transport apart from private cars

    Ya thunk!

This time of the year sees me taking very deep, controlled breaths...

The breaths relate to the stupid market...

They also relate to the open road...

I try to avoid the questions about the skills of other road users...

    My advice...

Considering .... that the majority of any funding for the roads in your area, and the whole country for that matter ... are spent IN/ON AUCKLAND ROADS ... thats funny ...

The views expressed above may not match yours - But that's the reason my Dad went to war - wasn't it?
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!

A good 50% or more of the traffic heads out to Matakana. It's basically 1 set of lights that causes all the grief.
