    I've just been refreshing my memory about aperture and shutter speed settings and learning what the P mode on our D40X Nikon does. I'll take our 18-55 and 55-200 lenses and see what happens (55-200 takes a long time to change focus when significant changes in zoom). I've got some ideas about where I want to stand but no idea if they are "best" or not. Don't expect much but I'll give it a go. Feel free to give me any advise you want tomorrow.

    Does it have A & T modes?

    1/320th is sweet to get a bit of mag wheel blur and with spoked wheels you can go to 1/640th.

    As expected, Woodman turned up in the 10 minute window that the house was empty! All ready to go for 11:30, will be waiting on the road.

    Should be around 20-30k lux with a UV of about 13 and wind from the north at about 10-15kph.
    Humidity 67% and Pressure at 1017hPa.
    The sand should have a high silica content and moisture rating of about 23.
    Friction coefficient in the corners of around 17 blumenthals, give or take around 3.6
    The roost will have a pain rating of about 5/10 dropping to 3/10 after 2pm as it dries out a bit.

    Luckily I speak fluent South island Dino so I shall interpret for you what may appear as mere gibberish to we the great unwashed of the North.

    Lux = A laundry powder
    UV = Use Violence
    Silica = Dirt
    Blue Menthals are produced by a company called "Rothmans"

    So if we breakdown the apparent gibberish into North speak we find it reads thus
    "They intend to clean up and beat everybody using dirty tactics to smoke the opposition"
    My work here is done
    And now we wait Doug

    What a day, great location great company, great coffe.

    Managed to stay on which was good and only got sandblasted once, and yes it friggen hurts.

    KLR (well mine anyway) performed like a dream, wasn't fast enough to keep up with the 450s we were racing against but really don't think I coulda ridden it any quicker.

    My vapor dash tells me that my maximum speed was 139.9 km/h while maximum revs achieved was 8370 rpm.

    Edit one ltre of oil was used. ouch

    So much fun I really recommend it to anyone with an adv bike to give it a go.
    I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

    Yes indeed Rabbit Island turned on a fantastic day for us.

    Watching the other classes practise it kinda looked easy- just stay in a nice line & go round the corners.

    Nordie, Woodman, Warewolf & myself lined up at the start of our practise laps with the MX3 open class. I was pretty nervous before the flag came down & to make matters worse the KLR started to stall right on the dropping of the flag. I started & head down saw with my peripheral vision the rest of the field disappear ahead of me.

    To be continued - movie time

    Where's the photo's, or were they to fast for your shutter speed??
