Yep, that's the same rear tyre I was running on the scouting mission. Possibly even similar condition when I started that weekend.

Never used them on front so can't comment there.

+1 for the E07 on the rear. This is what I was running on the preruun, it was a great tyre for the DB1k terrain, it stood up very well to the sharp rocks

Hey Buddha, I've got a spare Michelin T63 21" I used last year. You're welcome to it.
Sorry, only got a 17" rear.

There are a lot more sharp stones and rocks than last year but tyre killers...
well your nice new square knobs will have at least one nice n round edge on them and probably some cuts and chunks missing too.

The only flat we had to deal with was from a nail or similar on a tame bit of dirt road but I was sure my front was about to get flat with several hits it took on the main challenge section.

ohh, lots of people watching this thread right now.

mite be a better option than the cheng shin front? last thing i want to be doing is repairing flats due to shit rubber, riding the 1000km is going to be enough let alone dealing with that type of distraction. 30+ deg tyre repairs dont appeal!

I'd say excitement and anticipation, don't over think it or you'll syke yourself out.
It's always easier than it looks, that's what I tell myself anyway.
It's usually true but I don't always listen.

Nothing too nasty, a few ascents and descents on rocky sections like this pic. Not detrimental to tyres if you pick nice lines that allow you to keep up momentum and avoid spinning up the back wheel too much on the rocky climbs. Personally these sections were some of the most fun bits

Sorry Transalper, bringing this image up again, that's a bit rough eh it is the only photo I had of one of the rocky sections, honest

Ha ha... beware of the catchy crash. It's like you see someone yawn and so you yawn too. ADVGD yawned first

Haha the big blue pig was the only one that didn't yawn That was a pretty damn chunky section. Not be fun to go up.
