I had an off road only kickstart model brand new in 2000. Have fond memories of hat bike as it's the only bike I won a motorcross race on at Ardmore![]()
My 525 ran 15-45 in adventure trim and would go anywhere from a first gear crawl to 160kphMmmm 6 speed....
Oh and it's got real suspension.
SImilar thread recently had several people suggest a DRZ400SM, with the wheels changed to 18/21. Thinking was that the forks were significantly better.
Duno what the engine state is or how much extra mass they carry...
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon
From what I`ve heard the S or E forks are better for off road use as that`s what those bikes are aimed more towards.
The S and SM are basically the same bike engine wise, not as good as an E with the FCR carb, cams and pipe. Standard version S and SM`s are underpowered IMO.
Ok here's a question to all those who have owned either 350 or 400. Which would you have prefered - the 6th gear of the 350 or leccy start ofthe 400.
At the mo I'm leaningtowards the leccy start due to river crossings, stalling in tight places - ah fck it I'm not gonna be doing big long miles on it I've answered my own question - as you were...
