Flat tyre - what do I do?

Hi Guys

Need your advice. Went to hop on the bike this morning after a ride last night and the rear tyre is flat. It is the garage but how do I get it repaired. It is tubed tyre so I guess I cant use my tyre repair kit that I had from my tubeless tyre?

It there a mobile service or do I need to get it transported to a bike shop.

Any suggestions appreciated

Remove wheel, remove tyre, patch tube, remount tyre, remount wheel. Simple really.

You wont be riding today, thats a given. When that last happen to me, I got the local Bike shop to come and get the bike, fix the puncture and return the bike to me, all for the very sum of, cant remember now but it was minimal...if you cant do it yourself, ring a bike shop.

another option is to jack the rear up and remove the wheel and have cycletreads repair it.

Had the same trouble this morning with the wheel barrow.
Removed wheel, used BMW tyre levers to get tyre off,
fitted new tube,
levered tyre on,
inflated.

tip: dishwashing liquid on the beads makes it much easier.
watch that you don't pinch tube.
I don't patch tubes unless on a trip.

Modern bikes....got one of them there tubeless kits.
I can't even get the wheels off my modern easliy...

Realised that I had Roadside Assistance with my Kiwibike insurance so gave the number a bell.

After an lady asking some silly questions like manual or auto and petrol or diesel? And then to top it off with "would you like us to put on the spare wheel for you" they organised a tow truck within about 40mins and off to Cycletreads
About 50 mins later and $55 its all good

So +1 for Kiwibike Roadside assistance - albeit with some funny question and for Cycletreads.

Managed to get in a quick ride in to. My first flatty in over 40,000km of riding so I guess its not too bad eh!

10 points to Kiwibike then aye.
I have done several hundred thousand kms (on a bike) in my life and i can only remember about 3 punctures and 2 were blow outs so i was lucky. If i got a flatty now id sit down and cry lol.

I find it quite that there are a large number out there who can't fix a puncture on their bike!!! isn't a part of riding?

can't imagine it taking more then 1 hour under bad conditions on a trip in the waps....

Not everybody walks around with a tyre lever in a ninja sword scabbard on their back...


meh... sounds like hard work!

PS for future reference - take bus to work, then call Mortrocycle Doctor to come and do it at your house. Same day, similar cost.

Well I do young grasshopper.



This is the tool kit I carry on the Harley. It has levers, puncher repair kit, I even have a few plugs for tubeless tires and a small bike pump.

I have even been known to help out riders on jap bikes from time to time.
