CRF230 what can you tell me ?

I recently traded in a CRF230 and it looks to tick all the boxes for me for a play bike. Lekkie start is good and It looks to be still a "real" trail bike.
But I know nothing at all about them. Is it a farm bike with fancy clothes or an update on the XL200??

Hey Frosty if it ticks all the boxes for you, than thats all that matters, will the young fella be riding it?

More like an XR200 with electric start.We used to fit a farm kit to them,but they aren't a farm bike...just a fun and easy bike to ride like the XR200.

If you wiegh under 60kg and you are not going to jump it -you will be fine. they are a good little workhorse.

no but yea but--ahhh I dunno-- I figured it'd be a good bike for following the kids around and its got a "farm foot" on the stand for when I have to go back and kick flooded bikes into life. Its gotta be better than the LT80 i"ve been following em around on.

Ive got four Cavallo clones - and believe me, they are clones. Everything on the frames is interchangable with genuine. Ive also ridden the genuine ones a lot.
The forks need some 10 weight oil and a 25mm spacer. The rear showa shock is very XR200. It will get you there but not at high speed.
Actually I wish the dude was still bringing in the clones, they were exceptional value at $2750 - the genuine one is something like $6995! It really is a very ordinary bike.

Had one for the oldest daughter 'till it got stolen.
air cooled honda say no more, goes on forever wth minimum maintenance. Hasn't got much squirt but plods on and goes can still wheely it if you try hard. Only draw back its got no kick start so if the electric start gives up in the wet & mud or the battery gets flat your knackered, if you can't bump it (which in the wet means u usually can't because the back wheel just slides).
Found this out the hard way along way from home on a ride round Ruapehu. had to swap the crf250x battery to the 230. Start the 230 take the battery off it ( because its a different size to the crf) put the 230 battery back while it was still running ( a few ouchs as it tried to electricute me) and then kick start the 250 as it ws now flat! All in the pouring rain and cold. Decided to attach a kick start after that but never got round to it. Its got the hole for the kick start just no lever or paw inside. Wouldn't take much to put one in though.
Moral of story get a bike with electric and kick start or fit one to the 230 before going on long wet rides.

Other than that a good bike.!
