    A cure for constipation?

Half an hour or so ago I was on my way home for lunch. I was speeding down a short hill at the bottom of which I make a right hand turn. Speed is a relative concept in this instance you understand, I was on the moped.

When I was half way down the hill a woman in a big 4WD came out of the road to the right swung right across the road and headed toward me on my side of the road. I don't know what she was doing, but she definitely was not driving.

My headlight was on as was the blinker, but she wasn't even looking out the windscreen. A hi viz vest would've done jack shit, even a set of disco lights...

So I grabbed the brakes and threw the moped to the left at which point she decided to take a look where she was going and jerked the wheel to the left.

    It was very close.
Of course Katman would say it was my fault.
    And I'd say bollocks!

Be careful out there. Some of them actually are trying to kill you.

    Glad it ended OK.

Last time I took my GF for a ride on the bike we had about 4 people pull out from intersections on us. Each time I was able to avoid them fairly easily, after we got home she asked if it is always that bad? I told her yes pretty much, it is unusual to go for a ride and not have someone fail to give way.

Gotta watch out for them, cause heaven knows they are not watching out for us!

But don't forget she needs that 4WD to do the school run each morning, and you can't expect her to look where she's going, that's what the bull bars are fitted for - so it's just your fault for being on two wheels and daring to get in her way

Reminds me of a situation a few years back. I used to do a bit of motor vehicle accident investigation as part of a job I held. When I questioned a driver of a 4 wheel drive who had turned across the path of a motorcycle causing serious financial and physical loss her response was:

"Motorbikes are dangerous, so it's not my fault"

"So your statement is that you have no liability to the motorcycle rider as his vehicle is dangerous so that makes it his fault that you failed to give way and turned directly across his path?"

    "Yes." Said completely seriously.

"We'll see you in court then I guess."
Stop showing up to the beating.

It would appear after recent events that you can add to that list:

He wasn't wearing a hi-vis vest so I didn't see him, ergo, his fault

Glad your still with us to ride another day Pritch and if any of us truly believe that 'some' of the drivers out there aren't trying to kill us, deliberately or by willful neglect then you'd best wise up fast.

Contrary to the opinion of some around here, we are not always the master of our own destiny, hard as we try, if someone drives a monster truck straight at you , you best hope your guardian angel is riding pillion, cause you're gonna need a bucket full of miracles.

AND, if you had taken your lunch to work you would never have endangered her life!!

I really think you should apologise to her next time you meet.

Either that or scratch 'blind bitch' on her door with a nail.

Ahh, but they are perfect riders who are super safe. When you think about it, you can't get much safer than sitting behind a keyboard can you

Congratulations for living another day. You can also hit the horn, over the last couple of years I have been training myself to use it all the time when I find drivers on my side of the road.

Fuckers on the wrong side of the road is one of my pet hates. I live in a small sea side village at the end of a windy road on banks peninsular, every fucking day I take the bike out I have to avoid some fucker driving on the wrong side of the road, most of the time it is fat bald old men in 4Wds taking racing lines. What I do now days is i hit the horn and keep it going until they have passed. I have also fitted a loud horn that I got from Screaming Eagle Catalog. Worth every cent.
    Just another leather clad Tinkerbell.
