It's $199 for the day. You get 6 sessions of 20 minutes and some coaching from a coach from the California Superbike School if you need it. If you have not been round the track before, the coach runs a first timers session at the beginning of the day. You need to turn up by around 8AM, the compulsory riders safety briefing is at 8:30.
You must have leathers, either one piece or two piece zipped together. They are available for hire for $75 for the day - including gloves and boots and helmet if needed. There is a deposit (sorry can't remember how much) but it is not taken from your credit card, just held and reversed at the end of the day when you return the gear.
It might seem like a lot but it's well worth it. You'll have a blast. There are about 2 every month so if you can't afford it at the moment, save up and come down when you can. In March there is one on the 16th & 21st, in April there's one on the 9th and on Anzac day - the 25th.
    Hope you can make it!

$100 per hour for a race track... Maybe if it was a top quality European Circuit.

How am I causing the need for $200 (sorry... $199) for riding on the track for 2 hours on a little bike?

Still covering building costs? Steep profits to pay for the down days? Honestly that's ridiculous. It's cheaper to pay for fuel to go down to the Taupo track for a day from Auckland.

Got any newbie rates to at least try and entice me into becoming a regular? Might be a good business plan... obviously not. Never mind, I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Hey yeah I know it's a lot of money for a ride
It is a world class circuit and one of the most technically challenging tracks in the country, if not the world (one of the). And yes there is still some construction happening.

How long would you normally spend on the track - I mean actual track time?

go to puke, it's 90 bucks for whole day. Not sure if leathers are compulsory though.

I don't want to be rude or anything but it is very far from being a world class circuit. World class circuits don't have gravel pits. They also tend to have a few more corners with a bit of variety.

That's the going rate. Taupo is about $150 a day for slightly less time. Manfeild can be under $100, but that's only for test days where they alternate between bike and car sessions or certain extremely popular club track days. Otherwise it's $135. As for Puke, I think the test days (alternating between bikes and cars) are still $100?? But it's Puke. Problem with test days is there's no ambulance and the cars often spread shit on the track.

Taupo's a few years old now and Puke and Manfeild are relatively ancient.

The HD ride days are extremely well organised and run and the track easily has the best surface of the 4 north island tracks.

You definitely get your monies worth too. Most people don't even stick around for their last (6th) session cos they're done.

    Sweet.

There aren't any test/open days at HD btw, they're always run by track management.

90 bucks will be the open day usually held on a friday. Although they seperate the bikes from the cars, you will be thrown in with the racers etc, rules aren't as strict (non existant perhaps?) around passing etc... so perhaps be prepared to be cut up.

    And puke isn't HD....
    Ciao Marco

    HD = Hampton Downs

    Session details here...http://www.countiesracing.co.nz/moto...bookingid=1237

    You need full leathers.

By the way what are you hoping to get out of the track session? From your previous post (i.e. I'm going to kill myself on the road) am I understanding that your hoping to become a better, and therefore safer, rider?
