    Palmy - Hamilton Trip

    Hi,
My work has just asked me to pop up to Hamilton to do a job on Sunday evening and I'm going to take the bike and make a bit of a road trip of it and they can pay!
I originally planned to go Palmerston North, Stratford, Whangamomona on Saturday and stay at the Whanga Hotel but I just phoned them and they are fully booked.
I was then going to carry on through to Hamilton on Sunday and stay there the night.
I'm still keen on doing the Whangamomona Road as I haven't been through there before.

Any route suggestions or ideas on where to stay Saturday night?

    Cheers.

You will be paying big bucks staying in Hamilton on Saturday night. Nitrous circus and a number of other events are on on the Saturday. Where you staying Sunday night?? I would look at Stratford on the Saturday

There's a couple of decent campsites/cabins on the Stratford side of Whangamomona. I stayed in one over the Christmas/New Year break and would recommend it. I can't remember the name though.

If you are going to through to Hamilton you might as well go out to Raglan.

That's an awesome offer thanks, and if I was paying myself I'd take ya up on that one, but work have already booked me something through their corporate agent so I'm sorted there.
Thinking about staying in Taumaranui Saturday night at this stage.

had a great trip.. 1140 kms. Forgotten Highway was awesome.
Popped out to Raglan and back, thanks for the suggestion, I enjoyed that.

Also explored the roads between Karapiro and Mangakino on the way back.. got semi lost but found my way to Mangakino in the end.. fantastic roads through there!

Saw two police during the whole trip, the first one just leaving Te Kuiti to the north, he thought I was going a bit fast so pulled me up and gave me a warning... very nice man.
The second was when I was almost home, coming down the hill into Cheltenham... he had his lights flashing and I thought I was in trouble again but he carried on - must have been on a mission and wasn't interested in me.

Brilliant, I intend to use those roads on the way back to Raglan at Easter.
