Find out when the cretin is going to be sentenced and tell the officer in charge of your case that you wish to read your Victim Impact Statement in Court...scream and kick and throw a tanty until you get alloed to do so.

mate that is such a cowardly thing to do. I hope he gets done big time because that is as good as gbh. Unfortunatly his insurance company will only pay out for the market value of the bike but i thought gear was replacement value well thats what mine is. Lets just hope the tosser has insurance. Make sure you go to doc and get checked out as it sounds like you have a few injuries and to be honest the more injuries you have the harder a judge will be on him. Lets hope anyway.
Hope you heel up quick and get another bike soon.

Of course you do realise that you will probably also receive a ticket for failing to stop within the clear visible distance ahead.
Nah the cops could see the short skid mark on the roundabout.... the tosser turned right from the outside lane just as he was exiting a roundabout. Suddenly realised he was in the wrong lane and just turned.... He was about 50, had been drinking. His car took a beating... My shoulder destroyed his back seat window, the pack rack gouged his car side and I am sure my leg left a good dent in the door. It was a ford falcon or similar and I felt the cars bodyroll as I hit.

The cops said he is charged with failing to ascertain injury and dangerous driving. He fessed up when the cops turned up on his door step and 10:30pm an found the damaged car. The cop sounded impressed with amount of damage done to the car (considering I made the bike ridable again that night)

I hope you keep this thread up to date with regards to the driver's penalty for his actions.
BTW, how do you know he had been drinking?

He "admitted" to the cops that he had run and suggested it was because he had had "a drink" and because his rego had expired.

Do get a doctor to check you out. If you need ACC at any time they will demand a doctor's report. And you do pay your ACC levy as part of your rego.

As his rego is expired, there will be no insurance. But attend his sentencing ans ask to read your Victim Impact Statement and ask the Judge to award costs, namely replacement value for your bike and gear.

Now, if you find his name and address, ask if anyone is interested in receiving it by PM. This guy deserves a baseball bat suitable applied to certain regions of his body.

    Get well, stay safe

No rego doesn't always mean no insurance, but drinking definately means no insurance.
