    What did we learn?

    • a noisy exhaust wont save us
    • a horn is not a safety device
    • if it looks bad ... it is bad
    • macho doesnt belong on the road

Do you think you should be preaching like that lest the next vehicle missile around the corner has your name on it?

OP - terrible thing to happen and utter shite that they didn't bother stopping. The unfortuate bad news will probably be that the judge will hand them down a reparations sentence and they will say "Ah my life's so hard I won't be able to survive with that" and they will end up paying it back at $5-$10 a week for a short eternity. That's what happen when a friend's car got stolen, $5k payout but at about $5 a week, meanwhile he's left without a mode of transport for work and has to take out a loan with some exorbitant rate of interest to get one again.

Yup it is every bikers story in a general sense and my story in a personal sense. That is why I bothered to share it.

Roadcraft (and good gear) saved my ass. But the laws of physics mean that you can't always dodge a bullet just because you see the gun swing towards you, or the car comming at you. Some times all you can do is put your head between you knees and kiss your sorry ass goodbye.

    So true....
The XJ is very noisy and I had changed down to have reaction if the idiot did do something stupid.

The horn did nothing to stop him

I could see it was going to get bad

Tring to force the right of way would have got me killed
