So what's the story with the bike?
Is it seriously mechanically damaged or a lot of expensive cosmetic damage.

After seeing some of the insurance write-offs on trade me it isn't hard.

Just spent most of the evening with a mate straigtening it up as best as I can for the moment. It takes a bit to kill an old Yammy XJ550.
    The pack rack was bent
the handle bars are slightly bent
the front shocks had twisted in the clamps
    the RF indicatior was broken
The LH foot peg is mangled
the tank has a knee shaped impression in it
the LH hand grip is torn
    the timing cover is cracked
the clutch lever is slightly bent
the headlight surround and tach surround is scratched
The air box was knocked off the carbs
So once I straightened the foots peg as much as possible (it is still fragged), replaced the indicator and untwisted the front shocks it was ridable again.
I had an old repaired timing cover that I have put on to keep the water out.
I have straighten the pack rack. So once I get a new peg it will be ok but it will always show the scars.
I think my shoulder took the biggest hit but my leg took the double hit. Gotta love armoured jacket sholders and steel shin guards)

Be sweet if you put a motor on it to winch it closed again straight after. My bike now

Good for lashings of lycra I should imagine too. Think of how many cyclists could fit it. No wait. Don't. The mental image is far too traumatic.

    So let's get this straight....

You saw the car slowing down and thought you'd better watch them closely, you saw them braking and wondered what they were doing, you moved over to be further away from them, you sounded your horn and changed down a gear to be ready to react - but the accident still happened?????

I hope you're not trying to suggest the accident was unavoidable.

    Coming through a large-ish roundabout.
I was in the centre lane going straight through following an other car.
There was 4 cars in the outside lane
(land transport act say on roundabouts - left lane if going half way round or less, right lane for half way or more, unless lane marking and signage say otherwise)
The lane markings clearly show no right turn from the outside lane.
As we came round the roundabout the third car in the left lane was going slower than the others which is why I noticed him.
The forth car in the left lane moved into the right lane right in front of me so I had to brake to avoid being too close to him.
As the car in front of me passed the third car in the left lane and exited the roundabout the third car in the left lane braked hard and turned right.
By this time I was about 2 lane widths away from the exit. This meant that I had about one and a half lane widths distance to react in on an 80Kmh round about.
So yes I suppose it was avoidable. I could have popped a wheelie and ridden right over top of the Ford or stayed in my armchair like you.

Just because they place a roundabout on an 80kph section of road doesn't always mean it's prudent to do 80kph around them.

Don't mind him. Every now and then, he takes time out from asking GUYS to suck his cock and placing really mature tags, to show us all how good he? is compared to the rest of us.
