Kawasaki Ninja 250 exhaust?

am looking at putting an after market exhaust/muffler on my 2008 kawasaki ninja 250R. Any recommendations about what to get (something that sounds nice). Am wanting to pick something up for under $500.

Love the sound of my Yoshimura Carbon Fibre tip Looks quite different to normal exhausts which I like. No idea how much it was, got my ninja with all the extras when I bought it so twas all good!

If you want something that looks good and is sounds the business then most of the well known brands have a pipe that will do the job. Yoshi, 2 brothers etc...

If you want increased horsepower sell the 250 and get a 600...

Make certain you have a mechanic raise the needles in your carb.
Don't expect much gain in performance but it'll certain sound like you're going faster

+1 Jet the carbs, gives you all of 1hp which is alot when you're on a 250.

What's the legal standard for calling something a "performance" exhaust?

I dunno if I'd pay $350 for a 250 can, but then it's not my money, so good luck to him. To each his own and all that.

A mate of mine put a Giannelli muffler on his (www.giannelli.com) . Sounds brilliant without the baffle (easily removable/ re-inserted). Motorad in Wellington sells them and I think they are reasonably priced.

My daughter has a Yoshi on her Ninja - goes awesome and sounds LOUD but she loves it. Not sure about the performance increase over stock but it does go very well for a 250. Pictures are here (she's almost got fer full licence so selling it to move up to something bigger

Yes and no.. I got four bikes, three of which have had the jetting screwed around with something chronic. They use a lot more fuel, are a bitch when they're cold, endurance sucks, all for being able to pass someone on a similar bike.

I don't recommend ad-hoc "re jetting" at all. Perhaps raise a needle a single notch, or maybe a single size larger main jet, but please keep the standard jets and document what you did so the next owner can figure out how the hell to get his fuel economy back, or at least have the damn bike idle properly when its cold.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the jetting wasn't screwed around with by a professional? or even a gifted amateur with the right tools? Unless you get a massive increase in hp (new cams, bore as well as exhaust etc) you can jet it properly and still get decent reliability/economy.

Maybe you can get away with out jetting on it if there are other restrictions in the system (or if there weren't before), definitely something the OP should inquire about with any potential muffler purchase.

I bought myself a carbon fiber exhaust from tyga performance, was really happy with quality, sound, ease of installation.... all of it. it also arrived in four days. they make entire exhaust systems for your bike too

Have a look around in there, they are very reasonably priced and the NZ dollar is strong against the USD at the moment.

Theres plenty of stories about dealership screwups on this sort of thing.

My daughters GT250 comet is plenty more powerful than her mates' GT250R, but it does 275km on 17L of fuel, whereas the GT250R will do nearly 100k more than that. Even my (standard) GT650R uses less fuel than her 250.

In the end people will choose for themselves after they have the right information, but please at least keep the stock parts and document what you did so the next owner can figure out what to fix.

I put a Two Brothers Pipe on my little beast...absolutely loved the sound...but the WOF man said I was too loud. I've put in an insert and the sound is still beaut, just a teeny bit quieter.

Each to their own and if you wish to spend money on your bike...do it. You may not re-coup your money at sale time but in my book, it's not always about the money. And who says you have to sell your bike at full licence time.
