Ultimately where I'm driving at for the wider audience (and in reponse to the original point of the thread is that):
    1) Even at World Championship level, support classes are seen.
    2) in the big scheme of things right now as good as the racing is, there is simple proof the crowds are not being drawn by 600's or 1000's as they are with some other forms of road racing.

    As you were.

No need to get over myself...........maybe my sarcasm didn't come across in text when I wrote the name change idea.

Never mind, I'll look forward to heading to Manfeild to watch all riders doin their thing.

A little unfair that Billy, AMCC have been supporting our young guns for some time now mate both financially, with free track time, fund raising and in other ways.

Thanks for proving me right KG,What you have mentioned above doesn't even cover 5% of whats required to run a serious Junior program,

Throwing tracktime and money at what I can only presume would be the likes of Avalon Biddle and Daniel Mettam does NOT constitute a junior recruitment and training program,Outside of the effort John Connor puts in at Mt Wellington theres very little done by the Auckland club in this area,In fact they chose not too run streetstock for a number of years cause the bikes were too slow and the races took to long!!

It doesnt help that when theres an incident at a club meeting and time starts too run out(Generally caused by the untrained dont have a clue what theyre doing 30/40 somethings in 600ss)that the streetstock class is the first too be cut,Take note,In the south island the junior streetstock get as much as twice the tracktime anybody else does and it shows in the talent coming out of there.

Classic point,Theres NOBODY running in streetstock/Prolite in the North Island I cant beat and yet at Ruapuna last month I struggled to a best finish of 12th place and 6 secs off the pace.In conversation with Jock Woodley on the Sunday night I had too admit I hadnt ever ridden an RG so hard and had as much of it on the deck to finish so far down the feild.

To sum up,If you really want roadracing to have a better profile,Then bringing in new blood at a young age and teaching them racecraft/preparation and commitment is the only way forward,Bouncy castles/gourmet burgers and umbrella girls wont,Without a spectacle theres nothing worth watching.

Not getting at you KG,I know you do your bit.

There are other names to add to the list but I take your point.
Its not all about turning up and going for a skid. Several of us take the time to 'educate' the new breed in all the behind the scenes stuff and getting there hands dirty, your right Billy it is often the youngsters that get bumped as a result of delays, all these things need to change and the efforts our South Island clubs are doing is proving its worth. John does an awesome job at encouraging young talent we should carry on the initiative.

My post was meant to be a bit tongue in cheek, just getting fed up with all the knockers (and not the squishy kind) on here.

I'm sure all are passionate about their own chosen classes but surely the end goal nowadays is to get people interested in the premier classes, yes I said it, the 600's and 1000's, and I'll also include 125's as the top classes. I mean why else do people try and get youngn's overseas to say the Redbull rookies etc? If they succeed then what, umm MotoGP, WSBK? Nah lets keep 'em in F3 instead!

Yes yes I know this is only little 'ole NZ and the money ain't there, but without the encouragement to aim higher why would someone have the passion to go for gold? Where would the likes of Slight etc be if they thought what most here did?

Ok rant over.......................back out to my bikeless shed
Honda RS125 looking for new home.... hint hint hint....

    I wouldn't have thought he'd fit on a JR50?
