With the increase in cops around the roads, people out on the roads etc, increasingly the only place for a wild ride is at a track.
Well isnt it why people do the fast riding in a first place? Because its fun and it can possibly end up very badly? But i do agree his choice of location for that kind of speed wasnt very clever...

I think what he is saying is that, some of those that decide to ride fast do so without to much thought going into that decision.

Riding is a hell of a lot of fun, but I sure as hell don't ride because of the possibility of it ending badly!

I'm sure there's countless who could say that they do it purely for the enjoyment it gives them.

    So you're full of shit.

    You make it too easy...

"Enjoyment" is very subjective thing, quite likely you can say "thrill of danger" is part of enjoyment.... also YOU being sure about what countless people think...means nothing but YOU being full of shit!

'Enjoyment' does not necessarily include a 'thrill of danger'.

You are correct. It was 100kph to 80kph and it was fuckin slow too.
Carless days also. We ahd to select what day during the week we wanted our car to be carless. The funny part was i had about 5 cars out on the farm (including a couple of my brothers and a couple of utes) so we just put them all on different days of the week. Problem solved!

I do understand what you are saying.

However I do everything I can to remove the danger factor from my riding. Tell me I am full of shit or am a pussy if you like, but I would rather ride for the rest of my life than ride like a twat and injure myself / someone else or worse yet, kill myself.

If I want to ride fast, ill go to the track and make a day of it. This way I then remove as much of the danger as I can of high speed riding.

I wouldnt call someone pussy for trying to remove danger out of riding... so if you get your thrill from riding on a track thats probably the best way to do it. (personaly i enjoy trackdays too)

Some people like Mr.149mph probably need to zoom between "parked" cars on the m-way to get their daily fix....

Yes, the thrill of the speed, for me it is to make my mind work quickly to ensure that the bike is managed efficiently and smoothly. Can't say that I enjoy riding fast because of the risk of me being killed, but yet I do enjoy risk... it certainly would not be a thrill if there were no risk as the law of risk vs return would mean that the reward (thrill) would in turn be lower.

I think it is more the adrenalin rush that comes with risk than the risk itself that is appealing. I enjoy the adrenalin and letting go (as outlined in Fight Club) but the idea of death does not appeal so much.

However, this can easily be managed by keeping the insane stuff for the track and being easy / moderate stuff on the road. Don't always have to ride fast to enjoy riding you know. Also, I would hate for someone else to suffer because I was so selfish that a thrill cost them something. (Could be me gone from my family, could be me killing someone else and their family losing them or whatever).
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
