My daughter lived in Miagi, it is a wasteland, she is waiting to hear news of her host family. Unbelieveable!

Bloody hell.... Take nothing for granted EVER eh?

Sooooo much suffering to come out of this - almost enough to cause a dedicated non believer to shed a short prayer for the poor buggers. Truely an EPIC disaster.

It makes homes expensive but I don't think any of us will argue about that.
After the 164 Kanto , Hanshin quake , NZ and Japan teamed up , I heard that the building code were dramatically improved after
Then again in 1980 after the Kobe eathquake

The CTV building surprised me, but then theres not a lot u can do if a big hole opens up

They are saying there is to be another big earthquake very soon

    Oh joy

Hahahahah, funny, I was just thinking I'm glad shitting in a bucket is the worst of Cantabrians problems. We might have a rooted city, but at least we're not drowning and glowing in the dark to boot.

Poor Jap bastards, what a shit shit series of things to happen to anyone. I was stoked that they came to help us out even though we support terrorists actively attacking them, I hope we send some help back the other way.

Totally agree, we simply get on with life and plan for futures but who knows what will really happen to any of us or all of us one day.

All we can do is do all we can to help others in need, any way we can. We never know when or if this will happen to us on a similar scale. What has hit Christchurch has hurt so many and will affect all of us living in NZ financially, emotionally or otherwise. What would we do if a disaster of the scale in Japan hit us?

I guess the best we can do is be prepared individually and prepare to help communally.

Yep, already done, NZ was one of the first countries to respond.

Simple, the use of the word "if" denotes whether or not the eventual disaster happens in our lifetime or not.

Didn't take too long for someone to mention the war. Yep, the Japanese were responsible for some pretty atrocious behaviour during many wars. Just like the Germans, the Russians, the Americans, that list goes on and on. And that's just the modern era.
