given its apparent low value aren't you better off to just keep it and ride it rather than loose so much?

Market value is only what the market is prepared to pay ....I reckon.
Ive seen several bikes that Id've brought before the recession for what i thought was a good price whereas now most would have to drop by closer to a 1/3rd in price to get my wallet out. Tis a bugger for the seller, but its a buyers market I reckon & a sellers nightmare.Especially if your still paying it off.

There are buyers out there, price will determine the length of waiting to sell.

I have just spent a bit of money buying a new ride. I am happiness filled. I tried hard to buy the bike of my dreams, but she did not like the colour of my money. I see the price has dropped another $500 in the last week. She is still dreaming but...

What are you basing "market value" on?

if i keep riding it it will only devalue more , so its sitting in my garage, cleaned serviced and ready for new owner...... and there it will stay till sold....

im far to tied up with work for quite a while on 6 day contract, ( next 2-3 years ) so biking will take second place.
ill take a few days off middle year for my 40th other than that.....working.

would like some one else to enjoy the beast, rather than have it just sitting in my garage..

I've sold and bought in the last 6 weeks, all trademe based. I found I took a bit of a hit selling (GS500F is a bit of an orphan and didn't want to carry it through winter) and when buying I was watching every new listing (600cc) daily. Most bikes seemed to sit, but a few I thought weren't a bad price were up and gone in a day or two. And that's what happened when I finally found the bike I've bought, it was up at 8am and I'd test ridden and bought by 6 pm.

If you sell and buy in the same market your buying power shouldn't change. If you cash up and then wait, and the economy drastically picks up, your buying power drops. Also the summer/winter oscillation to factor. Sell now and buy in winter = good!

The problem being (well one of them), is that everyone is now trying to get retail for their bikes via TM. Some (a lot then) more than! It doesn't work that way people.

I'm sellling my 900ss ie on TM .....not a nibble. I've decided just to run classics due to the cheaper rego and I've had my sports bike fun and am now over them....
Be lucky to get much over 5K at the moment. About 1/2 what I paid for it 2 1/2 years ago...
There are lots and lots of bike on TM....its a buyers market....such is life.
    Rego due in May.....
