You KNOW theres gunna be a tellin off tho dontcha, and it dunt matter who it is or how much they're loved, theres still gunna be a tellin' off and thats the way of it. I'm pretty sure those closest to her are plenty qualified to do that so theres only gunna be a frown from me.

Fucken oath mate, I'm now making sure my cel phone is properly charged and in accessable spot whenever I go for a ride. I can't think of anything scarieir than what our little mate went through and doubt very much I'd be as calm or level headed in the same situation.

Glad she had reasonable signal strength
My cell is charged and in the flap pocket of the jacket when on non-commuting rides.
Smart lass. Well done on the rescue to all involved.

For those interested, Reckless has kindly setup a donation to help pay for expenses for Katie here:
    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ker-whip-round)

I knew Katie would probably be reluctant at the thought of people offering - but believe me, she will then be humbled then move onto being grateful when she sees the expenses she will have to face in addition to her long recovery.

Easing the financial burden will lower Katie's stress levels and help her healing process.

If you'd ever met Katie, you'd understand why you might want to help her as she makes you feel more positive and happy with life than before.

I was so sad reading from start to finish - the joy of a new toy, and the obvious pain that toy has bought. It is one of my biggest worries, being predominantly a solo rider I am constantly aware of how exposed I am should I have an off somewhere where I have no idea where I am. I have just done a big ride through there - most of the time I had no idea where I was - just taking random side roads and heading in a generally southerly direction.....how to minimise that risk? Dunno. I like the GPS phone idea (my new phone has that), and agree I always charge my phone up to max.

Without going too far off topic, I always think hard about where to put the phone when going for a ride. Accessible (outer) is good, but not so good if it gets munted in an off. My winter liner has a cell pocket inside it, and in summer I drop it inside my front pocket of the trou. Still not really sure.

    Keep on smiling Katiepie!

Sad to hear about her crash, she was lucky she had cellphone coverage. Scary to think that there isn't any cellphone reception in a lot of places I ride, even on some state highways. Hope Katie heals quickly.

Go into the hospital and ask her yourself.

And I am quite disgusted in the fact that you think that I only care about her well being because you think I want in.
Dont sweat it dude. I'll PM you why arguing with Alexis is a waste of time. Especially where Katie is concerned.

Got the message Onya, will help out.
