I was in town on Saturday, and the cordon has been moved north from Manchester/Moorhouse intersection, up to Cokers and next to Street and Sport. So Street and Sport are still in the cordon.

But Rolling Thunder, Casbolts, and what was Sportzone Suzuki are not. Chris and the boys were in RT, it looks fine, and doesnt seem to have copped liquefaction or structural damage.

Acorn Models had people in it too.

The piece of shit building (where MDU was) next to Street and Sport and Pitlane appears to have totally fallen down. Presumably they just need to clear the site (Civil Defence should do it and send the fucktard owner the bill: they have the power to) and Street and Sport and Pitlane can open.

A lot of the buildings have signs in "no power on" so presumably the services are down.

My favourite bike shop (Cycle Trading) is utterly fucked: the front's fallen off it. Hopefully Keith got some of his cool old bikes out.

Talking to Don before the 22nd and he reckoned the owner of the offending building owner had no insurance, hence his unwillingness to bowl the bloody thing. I hope Don gets back in business, but I wonder whether he or Street and Sport will be able to weather this storm. I understand Street and Sport were right on a knife edge and Glenn has had enough.
Don't blame me, I voted Green.

It is more the fact the local dealer should stay playing with their cars, and don't really give a crap about bikes. its a small side line to them picking up the bike franchise. the bike been generally good ,

I share your pain, my bikes are stored at Casbolts and I pick them up when I return to NZ for a holiday 3 weeks 2 or 3 time a year...I arrived in Chch 2 days after the quake and only got to see 2 of the 3 bikes as I was heading to the airport to fly back here.

However I was booked in to do the TT2000 and was not going to miss out on that....so a quick call to Te Waiponamu rentals and I had a VFR 800 arranged for 3 days rental (and 4000km)....I think I may have set some rental bike record....

All three of my bikes in Casbolts fell over and were damaged to some degree.

Some good news however...a couple of days before the quake, I checked that the insurances were paid up and up to date, and recieved acknowledment that the insurance was all good...the morning of the quake...Talk about timing

Claims were lodged with Kiwibike insurance who promptly responded advising the claims were accepted...If the insurance was the shops responsibility, I expect my insurance co would have advised me to approach the shop for cover.

Kiwibike Insurance have been very good and prompt and without going into details, have been more generous than I would have expected from an insurance company.

Next trip home is July...maybe I will get to see and ride my new MTS that trip home.

Now....lets see how long it takes to get a new 1098S tricolore fairing.......

Yup thats them....two of the three. The Brand new MTS was on its side out the back...

The monster was okay, the 1098 broke the fairing, mirror and fairing frame...

But covered by KB insurance....thanks Dave.
