You should be shifting just before redline17.5-18k, and leaving the line at atleast 9-11k.
I usually drag my 600 or 750 at meremere, but got to take another guys zxr250 for a run as he was having trouble getting it off the line, ran a 14.37 with a 6-7kmh lower trap speed than he was pulling(even though im alot lighter)as i decided to hold out 4th accross the line where as i should have gone for 5th. Had never ridden one before, could have def gone 14 flat or lower with acouple more runs.
Ill be there this friday, feel free to come say hi.

Would love to, but it's a bit far.

Have only done drags on chipseal surface, which was being torn to shreds. Best time of the day was a ZX10 @ 10.95...mine on the GSXR was 12.02.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Also, just for this week im running 98 in it. Good idea? should i use it up and chuck 91 back in it before the drags or will i get a better performance boost from the 98? was told that my bike works best with 91 as it was designed for it but other bikers have told me to use 98 when racing..

    - Will be riding a black zx6r.
Yea run 98 in it, or atleast 95/96.

Even on the road i would be running atleast 95 in it as the 4cyl 250's all run reasonably high compression and love to rev.
You wont really gain any power as such between 95 and 98 but it is added piece of mind in terms of knock protection.

Yeah that was my thoughts exactly! ive rung a few Honda dealers and they have all told me to run 91 in it as the bike was built for it.. ill run 98 anyway

they were built in japan to run on their fuel. compare our shit with theirs. (with theirs before it gained a seawater percentage) their fuel is a better quality. Id be running 95 as a minimum in a sportsbike of anysize, perhaps with the exception of a smoker

Your reaction time will not improve your 14.6 time. But if some body runs a 14.6 to and your reaction time is faster then you will win.

All your reaction time is is how fast you went from a stand still to moving of the sensor and then the clock starts.

If it'll run on 91, you'll get better power on 91. Lower octane = more hp, unless it can't handle the compression etc....
As for your shift points, find what rpm the peak torque of your engine is (it'll be on the interweb somewhere...), and shift so the rpm drops to that after you shift.

has anyone ever had problems with hitting neutral when trying to shift fast at high rpm on a CBR250? what am i doing wrong? sometimes its not even neutral it can be between 2nd and 3rd, 3rd and 4th etc.... i throttle off, pull the clutch right in and give it a decent 'kick', but it still managers to get between gears. Only happens when i change at 15k+ rpm... i can see this being a problem if i take it to the drags

Change your oil. Chances are you have FNS (false neutral syndrome).
If thats not it your gear box is fucked.

    - forgot to mention....this applies to wet sump/plate bikes, dunno about dry sump.
