First ride

So I had a mate come along with me to check out a Bandit 250 on Tuesday afternoon, we were thoroughly impressed. Went back last night (Wednesday) and picked it up around 8.30pm... Oh how parting with such a big wad of cash is depressing! But then again, I got me a bike
With the state of Chch traffic at the moment, I didn't really want to be learning how to ride my new bike at any time there is any form of daylight, and by the time we filled in the forms etc. it was around 9. Donned my helmet and jacket, and took off down the driveway. NO STALL!!! I was stoked.
Spent a good 15 mins cruising the residential area getting used to everything, and throttle, clutch, turn signals etc. I pulled over at one point and stopped the bike completely - then it took me a minute trying to feel out where the start button was. (IT WAS DARK OK!)
Got out onto Hoon Hay Rd, and straight into some roadworks. Great start. Got onto Lincoln Rd successfully enough and made my way home. At this point I decided that it was a really good time to get some practice in, so I took a ride to my mates place in Avonside. Not the best choice I've ever made, as all the roads in the area are rough as. But I managed to get through it OK, with 1 or 2 stalls on the way over. Headed back to Riccarton down Ensors Rd and down Brougham st, and started feeling pretty confident doing 60km.
Went to bed feeling SUPER content.
And was stoked that I had bought a bike when I played with my car a little this morning... And now it wont start. Hahaha. Oops.

Anyway, that's my first experience - I'll be getting more really quickly since my car doesnt go.

In my opinion if you ever decide to move to Franklin (which they now say is part of auckland and waikato) you will find the roads a pain in the butt too. learning all the ways of dealing with changes I think makes you a better rider later on.

It happened... I know it did... when I can't remember but I sure have forgotten to change down, BUT I didn't stall cause I had the clutch pulled in.

awesome bike - I learnt to ride on a 250 Bandit. Good choice, you won't get bored quickly with it like some 250s.

Oh how earthquake affected roads are fun! She's a bumpy ride pretty much everywhere I've been in Christchurch so far... But I'm loving it! Learnt something new about my bike yesterday too... How empty the main tank needs to be before I put it onto reserve and it cuts out. Firgured it out the hard way haha. But now I know!
Loving the lack of gas bill so far, I just filled it up and its probably about half of what it would have cost me in my car since Wednesday... Stoked!
