Where is your premise to support this ridiculous conclusion? Bicycles fucking rock- fun as hell, cheap and good for you. More power to bicycles.

A kids kick scooter on the footpath looks like the gueyist way to go.

Smaller buses are a good idea, and many Auckland buses are over fueling in need of service.

Hybrid engines who be useful due to all the idling in traffic, and reduce emissions in heavily built up urban areas. I think in Germany buses need tailpipes that finish upward near the roof to avoid gassing pedestrians

I feel like a dick walking up Queen Street having to cover my ears every time a bus goes past. Fuck me they're ridiculously loud. Electric buses or fuck off. Smelly noisy bastards! And not in the awesome smelly noisy bike kind of way

That's $3.10 at the point you hop on the bus? I assume that ignores the normally huge prepayment that council's make to subsidise the cost.
Effectively that subsidy means you are paying to ride on every bus ...

I wonder what the actual cost of the fare is when you include the bit you pay for in your rates.

The answer people is not buses, monorail, trains, horse carriages etc.

    IT'S JET PACKS

It'll be a whole new ball game, you could live in Paihia and get to Akl in an hour say. Hopefully they make 'em fast enough to break the sound barrier.

god could you just imagine the people we have driving round on our roads now, up in the air??? If jet packs take off (excuse the pun) I might have to switch to being a cager, I don't want any 80kg person carrying a 20kg jet-pack falling on & damaging my bike

Nah, jet-pack licensing would be very strict (I hear there might even be spelling and grammar tests involved ), and just include parachutes for any maintenance oversights

Just wait until computer controlled transportation is viable, it will vastly improve efficiency, with both time and fuel savings

Not forgetting the Bill Gates tax for licensing the OS on the control modules. oops reboot required.

That actually happened on one of the electric bike races a while ago, guy stops, flicks some switches, hoons off again. Pretty sure it wasn't running windows though. Mind you at least when a computer system goes offline it shuts down, instead of just carrying on and ploughing into shit.

As Mully says, they also take a bunch of drivers intent on taking out a motorcyclist before breakfast, and locks them up together in a big metal cage. Most excellent.
