So it's got nothing to do with the fact that they are in fact total raving arseholes?

They'll have my party vote come November 26th - the Greens should just amalgamate to provide a more robust centre left option. Minto, Bradford, Hone, Sykes and Nandor - good combo

Hone is a Ngapuhi , never trust a Ngapuhi. Mudguards, shiny on top shit underneath.
Maori party was going OK & then who undermines it , one of their own , a Ngapuhi running true to type.

That would be Pita and co, I imagine. Jumping into the tub with National and ACT wasn't exactly what most people who voted for them expected - and their performance since then has been excrable.

Maori party was formed as a response to Labour's foreshore & seabed act. Had they gone wiith Labour there would have been no change , going with the Nats got them some change , not all that some might wish for but way better than Labour was offering .
The whole Waitangi settlement process was also kicked off by the Nats.. Maori have atually done better under a Nat govt than with Labour governments who have taken them for granted believing they had nowhere else to go.

Hone will be all talk but will find himself without any real influence no matter who is in power. Too much of a loose cannon to be relied on.

    Damned straight.

Why don't Bradford, Minto and Harawera just call themselves Huey Dewey and Louie and be done with it??

The good thing is that with Hone causing a by-election, he has broken his agreement with the Maori Party who will now be able to stand a candidate against him in the General Election. Without a Maori Party candidate, Hone would have stood a very good chance of winning and then taking 4 others with him into parliament. Scary concept.
