It's only Rock and Roll but I like it
The cooler evenings tend to sort the good from the bad. Just got a new one for the 550 last week.

I been looking at these, reckon LiFePO4 is the way to go now, the shorai ones look even better but a bit more pricey.

I'm not sure, I hope not.....
Awesome! Does it pull nicer? I'm talking about the bike there....
Got the clearances all spot on now, timing done (Which is disgustingly easy! This Kawasaki was made to be fixed) cranked it over without the coils to get oil pressure etc, put it all back together and it wasn't pulling petrol through again![]()
Cleaned carbs, checked the floats again, which obviously were all mint still, put it back together. Still didn't start, plugs wet this time. So I left the plugs out to dry last night as I went to Dannevirke to get mullocked. Shall have another go at it today![]()
is how to build but reckon it'd be cheaper to go with a proper one, probably less likely to overheat too. Pretty simple devices and I think you'd get away with running a 7 wire one if they are more common.

Does look like a prick to makeThis one isn't the original anyway, I imagine the foam on the inside of the fairing wasn't helping as it was resting on the heat sink, so have cut that out.
Will hunt around for a cheap 6-7 wire one.
I could just leave one of the outputs dead on a 7 wire couldn't I?
Edit: What if I ran a separate rectifier through to a shunt reg? That would work wouldn't it?
Double edit: Quick look on ebay.... hmmm

not sure if that ebay one will be good for the power of a roadbike, think they use SCRs cos it's way cheaper than trying to find a shunt capable of over a hundred watts. Foam on heatsink never a good ideaif you get a 7 wire one just short two outputs together is probably better for it.
