Teacher (ex) deregistered for Playboy shoot

So the NZ teacher who took her kit off for Playboy has been deregistered by the NZTC. She's planning to appeal it on the grounds that no institution has the right to impose their Victorian standards on her lifestyle outside the classroom. Btw, she left teaching a year ago to pursue modeling.

So kb, what's the moral ground on who can or can't do "exotic" modeling (hey, if it's good enough to say "exotic dancer" then surely modeling can have the same title??)

Will there always be professions where certain "lifestyle choices" are incompatible according to public opinion?

Oh, and for anyone terrified that I'm thinking of following suit, you needn't worry. It's purely an academic question...

I'm with the teacher on this one. The photo shoot wasn't even in New Zealand, and it was published in an R18 magazine that none of her pupils are permitted to buy.

As long as she keeps that part of her life outside the classroom, I don't have any issue with it.

I think I'm on her side as well, despite being lectured about professional (read "moral") ethics at college.

Links and pics so I can look over the matter

I think she shouldn't be treated like that though, I personally admire the female form and I am sure any red blooded males will too, it won't distract them from school work that much.
It's flippin' rubbish! She's a sexy woman, not a kiddy touching, drug selling, Llama fur trading wench for goodness sake.

Sexy as student teacher in the sixth form. Us back row boys always tried to get a rise, a nipple rise, out of her. I can see them now......I still dream about her

Was a bit of a distraction....

Teachers have always had harsh moral requirements, visit a historical school and read some of the contracts. at one stage they weren't allowed to be married and weren't allowed any freedom to meet anyone. About time the NZTC came into the 21st century. Perhaps they are taking their lead from the Broadcasting Tribunal

    Damn!

On the academic question of the teachers rights though, I am with her all the way!

And if we are not terrified will you be providing birthday suit pics?

What age group was she teaching? It might matter to some and I think would influence my initial reaction. Kids below 10/12 wouldn't care but it is more likely their parents would. Parents will care up to and some past 16 and the kids will care more as they get older. But will it distract the kids from the lessons? only initially or if they weren't going to pay attention anyhow.
