As a spectator id like to see 10 rounds. As a racer the costs are far too high. 4 rounds with 3 races would be an improvement.

Anyway the poll could be limited to competitors?

No ,but very good points and but the poll was to give an indication only and has achieved this, I think the argument for 3 or less rounds is not an option, the gap is too wide in the results to contemplate less than 4 rounds surely .Anyway details should really be nutted out with commissioner and clubs at the AGM etc.

Hmmm interesting... all the opinions banded around on how the Nationals should be this or should be that, yet when a basic poll comes up on how they should be run, the status quo is voted for by the majority....

It would be nice if there was an additional NI round to the current format. Anyone know why Taupo isn't used? Is it the surface repairs?

Because no organising club wants to run one there

Sorry not true , my understanding there are two clubs expressing interest or have expressed in Taupo. It has become more attractive because of costs at other tracks.

Now that would be good! We have to have a minimum of 10 races so you can have a DNF and still get up in the points. The best solution for 600 and 1000 is that the races are increased to 3 races per meeting.

The cost of Invercargill is a bit steep and the club doesnt even want us there. If the 2 south rounds were in Timaru and Ruapuna on consecutive weekend and then say Hampton and Taupo on consecutive weekends but a month apart that means no matter if your from the north or south then you only need just over a week off work which is much better then 3 weeks!

if you jack the entry fee to be the same as hd or manfield i woulda thought its farkin cheap. The only places i heard moaning (and alot of it) about track hire was at HD and Manfield .....

if invercargill were to go (stupidest idea in the world) then puke has to come back, we need at least 1 fast circuit.

heh you seem to be missing one ingredient we need the clubs to be fevered about running a national round ,from what i have heard they are sick of loosing money and so until we get them feeling good about it we are pushing a great big pile of crap up hill with a toothpik

Stupidest idea in the world? Haha, you don't get on here much do ya pal?

I kinda like Choppa's 4 round, 3 races per round idea. If all classes had a race on the saturday (lose the second un-necessary qualifying session) it would give spectators more reason to come through the gate on both days.

Having said that racing at Teretonga is definitely on my bucket list

Don't the organising clubs have to apply to MNZ to run an event i.e a round of Nationals? Why would SMCC bother if they didn't want run it?

Yep its still the stupidest idea i've heard. Name one justification for having no round at invercargill, outside Northerners being pussies???? HD is the most expensive event to enter (and i'd wagger a bet it runs at the biggest loss) with the fewest competitors so surely that would be the first you consider scrapping?? Not to mention it was run even worse than the Invers event this year, despite invers being run by a new crew and having the shittest weather you can imagine.

None the less, if theres someone interested in running the rounds, you have to run them, or else we cannot possibly moan about tracks not being built/not having enough.

None the less we digress from the threads point. I see no reason to shorten the length of the weekend. As a nats competitor if i thought it would be beneficial for more track time, i'd find a way to do it (i.e. when HD was new, alot of teams from the SI went north 2-3 weeks prior to nats just for a testday). The only reason to shorten the weekend is to reduce the operating costs for the club, (run sat or sun only, there the expensive ones).

I can't speak for everyone but if nats was shorter, it'd only mean i use new tyres each race, did twice as many test days or had carbon wheels. Sure itll make entry's cheaper, but it wont make being competitive any cheaper. In the end all you will do is dilute the field and show it to less people, which benefits who or what...............
