    Stating the bleeding obvious

Note from a high esteemed rag noted for it's in depth research and they still don't mention petrol savings and PTW's fun factor compared to the other modes of transport.

By in-depth research I take it you mean they sometimes read a press release before publishing it?

"From our perspective it's recognising that there's not one single solution, that it needs to be balanced appropriately across all modes of travel," said McKenzie.

What? Getting your hair gel messed up is a good enough reason
not to look at the obvious.

I think he means 'balanced' in context of ACC methods of calculating M/C reg fees

tried to figure out if you read the same article that I read. I didn't see anything about auckland traffic being fun to drive/ride/cycle in at any point let alone ride. It also didn't seem to take any account of gas consumption at all. But then again, the point of the exercise was actually spelt out well

Members of an Auckland traffic consultancy business, Traffic Design Group, put the city's roads to the test this week, sending workers out to test the travelling times of various modes of transport

The NZ Herald is biased as hell, if you read it enough you can easily tell it's aimed at wealthy, conservative Christians.

Kieran Nash couldn't write a decent article if his life depended on it. See for yourself.

Yes, it's a little like that. Have a look at the content of the articles also, you can see why they give him things like that to write about... no point wasting good stories on somebody will just waste their potential in any case.
