but wat im saying is cbr250 in general is a strong matter. it takes a lot to do over a cbr. compared to something like a crappy 250r ninja. a cbr would one. shred rubber right through it and still last. the ninja would be bound to doing over something if u took it up to sixth and maybe redlined her. thea weak motors. understand the concept between a quality matter and shit motor. the new motors thea bringing out on these new 250's are rubbish. theyd be more unreliable then an old cbr motor if u put it to the test/ if anything goes wrong with an old 250 itll be something ur disc rotors warping or yah headlight going peow. or ur front forks maybe getting to spongy. but if ur going from a to b and want the power wen necessary js get a cbr.

im not interested in a cbr. westy's one is way to fast for me and i want to go new. tried second hand in cars, gn250 and airsoft guns and i always have some sort of issue. but i dont with new so if im getting a bike im getting a new one from a dealership.
I was keen on the ninja. I like how light and agile it is. But its gearing is shit. 5th gear to do 60kph is worse than the gn250. Hyosung doesnt have this issue but isnt as agile. and id rather have a bike that doesnt need 4-5 gear shifts for just cruising so at the moment i am set on the hyosung inless there is something else that catched my eye.
all i need to do is figure out how to cover up the gtr on the side of the hyosung because the colour pallate of the letters doesnt match the bike in black and i want in black.
In all honesty, 5th gear to do 60kph is nuts. I'd be thinking something is wrong with the bike. They're not that shit. They should be chilling in 3rd or possibly even 4th for 50kph, not struggling in 5th. I suggest you ride a couple more ninjas, cos that one sounds a tad poked. Either that or you're not riding it right.
Sorry mate but this is one of the stupidest things i have ever read. The ninja should be in 3rd or 4th doing 60. And the number of gears to get there really is not an argument for or against any bike.

But if you like the Hyosung more go for that...personally i would go for the one that feels better not the one that requires less shifting....
Oh. and why are people going on about performance and speed. i want a commuter that is comfortable, looks good to me and can handle 100kph. I dont need some mega awesome bike that will last for ages. i dont plan to stay on 250 for long once i get my full. which hyosung are willing to help with. they have some thing where you get a guaranteed amount to trade in once you got yer full. Which is very appealing.
Oh and all these people saying hyosung are shit and all that. how many have taken the 2010 and 2011 models for a ride. there are probably a few that have taken the 2008 models out for a spin but they had many issues. Which most have been fixed.
Simple fact is the hyosung ticks more of my boxes than the ninja at the moment and the CBR isnt even being considered. cause my prices range is 7-8k. But i dont actually have 7-8k. im going to get it financed.
So stop going on about the CBR. this isnt a disscussion about whether or not the CBR is good. its a discussion about the hyosung or ninja or something similar i can buy new.
Thank you. I agree that it did seem strange. THe gear shifts were also quite hard. I have no problem shifting in the GN250, GZ250 and the hyosung but the ninja was bloody difficult. so might take another for a spin. but kawasaki pretty much just give you the bike. nothing else. which is a bit dissapoiting when hyosung give you accesorries and all sorts.
will be keen to hear how you go with the hyosung as have got my BHS last weekend and will be looking at one soon.....deciding wether to get the gt250r or the gt250n...the N has a bit more upright riding style compared to the R as the bars on the N are mounted above the headset and are risers too ....hope you enjoy it...cheers
Honestly if i were you and were after a newish commuter i would get a 2007 GPX. Why finance a 2010 ninja when you can get pretty much the same bike for half the price?

I can understand your frustration. I had a GPX250 and really enjoyed learning on the bike and found it easy to keep up with mates on powerful machines at reasonable speeds. I also really enjoyed the Kawa, it was easy to ride, economical and I had great service and support from Bay City Motorcycles Tauranga. I like the look of the new model and friends have enjoyed learning on the upgraded version.
I now ride another Kawa and would think hard before switching to another brand. Just a thought - if you decide to buy another brand when trading up then the Kawa will give you better trade in.

A reference to what? Expensive and a high maintenance bike where in fact that applies to any bike thats been thrashed, old or new. The turning point is mine hasnt been thrashed, ive been far too "soft" on my CBR so dont go shitting all over my posts.
