So what can we make of this stat

850 pages of General Biker threads.
861 pages of Rant and Rave.

Is KB finally going through the changes of life?
    ...or was this statistic inevitable?

Some of the other car/bike forums I go on only show new "on topic posts", you have to click another section to get to the off topic and even then politics are banned. Got to be the way to go, can´t remember the last time KB had a decent bike thread.

At one stage there was a thread on breakfast cereal that got more views than my "scrapyard" CB750 cafe build up.

The difference highlights part of the problem. Everyone, or nearly, at sometime eats breakfast cereal plus I bet it partly turned into a bullshit thread with a lot of joking and leg pulling. Whereas the CB750 build would be serious thread and not everyone here would be looking to do that or feel able to. Some of us just like to ride and socialise but feel inadequate alongside a mechanical genius like yourself. Easier to spout bull about stuff like a cereal.

Well put oneofsix. As for myself, I know what bikes I like, I have a lot of different sources where i get my info for my bikes. I do all my own work and dont usually need info on how to. I like this site for the non bike related banter as much as for the awesome adventures and experiences of other people with similar interests.Plus it has music, which is something else I love.Sometimes I think people just need to chill out and be silly and forget about the serious side of being a rider in the mad society we live in these days.Just my opinion.

Problem is a lot of good stuff gets lost in the crap, lot of people that have bikes as a common interest would get on better if they stayed away from politics. Somewhere on the site there was a guy building up a z1300 turbo, lost amongst the non bike politics and religion. Banter is all good but the politics and religion crap belong elsewhere (yes I have posted in these as its hard not to get tangled up in it).

    I agree,
Anyone brave enough to bring up a new bike related topic usually gets shot down for not using the search button.

If we all used the search button, we would quickly find that most topics have been done to death already and no one would bother anymore. Then we wouldn't have this fantastic forum.

Bound to happen, people are about more than bikes, it's just a common interest that bonds us plus... If you've been around here a while you will realise that bikes and biking is a finite subject, the only exceptions would be new models and trips undertaken. Whatever we think about this site it is popular,so it must be working as a mix of biking and other subjects.

I am a member of a few 'biking only' sites and they are lucky if 50 people a week pop in for a read and even less contribute. Keen as I am 400 threads on GSXR1000rrrs can get a bit tedious.

So yeah it works for me and as far as topical news stories from around the country go, usually it's been discussed, derided, applauded, dismissed, and analysed to death on here before TV1/3 even get hold of it.

I tune in because I'm a biker but it's more about the life loves and hates of a biking community for me. long live KB
    Oh bugger
