Fat Bikers Motorcycle Club - Waiheke TT Memorial Run - 30th October 2011

    So anyway……

In 1931 the first New Zealand TT race was run on an unsealed road on Waiheke Island. The race was won by Sid Moses, who, among other things, introduced decimal currency to New Zealand.

The race started in Ostend. The route was along Belgium St, Ostend Rd, Onetangi Rd and then around the Seaview Rd loop. Each lap was 6 3/4 miles. 1931's race was 20 laps but in 1932 this was increased to 25 laps giving a total distance o...f 168 miles.

Throughout the 1930’s the Waiheke TT Race became a more popular event, notable even for the 1932 Rudge motorcycle that won an incredible four TT races.

A notable winner of the race was the late Len Perry who won eight races in all earning him the nickname the ‘King of Waiheke’.

But enough of the Wikigoogle stuff.......

lets get our gear on and head across the water for a day of fun and frolics on Waiheke Island.

Yes indeed folks, the FBMC will be heading orf across the water to fabulous Waiheke Island to take in the great scenery, ride a few laps of the famous TT circuit and have a great big feed at some point.

    When: Sunday 30th October 2011

Where: Half Moon Bay ferry terminal

Time: 9.30am to catch the 10.00am ferry over, returning on the 3.00pm ferry back (or sooner if the place runs out of pies)

Why: Why not, stupid f*****g question

FBMC have negociated fare discounts for the ferry, details to be confirmed soon.

Also, special FBMC Waiheke TT Run T Shirts will be available and the orders will be taken in the next couple of weeks

This will be a charity event as per usual and will involve the usual FBMC mix of riding, eating and fecking around.

See you there, don’t rock the boat eh….

Nope cause we wont be racing it, just riding it.

But never fear, you will have the opportunity to engage in competition and prizes will be on offer again

Well, this run is certainly generating a bit of interest which is all good.

Now then, a couple of bits of information to go with this one so put down yer doughnut and pay attention:

    Ahem......

The usual cost for return trips to Waiheke Island from Half Moon Bay is $83 for the bike and rider. However, FBMC have negociated a special rate for this event of $50 return for the bike and rider with pillion only an extra $20.....not bad at all

I am also taking orders now for special T shirts for this event. They are sized from S to 5XL and cost $30 all up inc P&P. If you want one then email me at fatbikersmc@gmail.com and I'll sort you out.

I've attached a picce of these fine garments, oohh you wont 'arf look sexy in that and no mistake.
