Somehow I don't think I'll be there this year. I may go for a day ride, but not the weekend.
    Time to ride

Well the old bike did not make it this year.

Going up Burke's Pass the CJ shit itself. I think a piston has disintegrated. Didn't have a spare piston with me so we got the AA to take us back to Fairlie and my brother drove down and took us home. Going to bed now because its been a very long day and I am buggered. All the gear has been put beside the Road King, I will do a quick repack as the old bike could carry heaps and we are still going ice skating in Tekapo at lunch.

A bit of fog here in Alex (NO FROST) ... now lifting. The sky is clear. NO wind yet. Looks like it'll be a good day ...

The fog has arrived here about 15 minutes ago. Very thick and no sign of lifting.

Rain overnight, clearing tomorrow morning. Very light SW wind (as in almost nothing) Very mild overnight temperatures dropping after the rain to around 6C.

I rode out to the site this afternoon with FJRidre and Kiwipheonix. A very pleasant ride, but the site looked pretty empty compared to previous years.

The Popo had a roadblock setup where the gravel road that the offroad riders use meets the sealed road about 1 km from the site. One police vehicle with 2 cops had a number of dirt bikes stopped. I suspect those were bikes that weren't registered or WoFed. Its obviously very dangerous to ride an unregistered bike on the seal after crossing 100+ km of dirt track and gravel roads.

I hope one of those riders can post on here and tell me my suspicions are wrong.

The otago motorcycle club mention the police getting intolerant of this and mention it on the brass monkey site over Here , under info about the Dunstan trail.

Sorry to hear about the CJ Flip. Hope the skating was enjoyable!!!!!!!
And remember ...... if it hasn't got one of "Uncle Flip's" prosthetic kickers it isn't a real motorbike!!!
