Speed record and flying mile events?

my latest bike project is nearing completion.
The bike will be strictly for racing and Im confidant that it will be the fastest of it's type in the world.
I aim to prove this by competing at as many straight line events as possible over the next summer.

Can you lot please advise me of the events and dates that cater for Motorcycle Speed Record attempts?

Cliffhanger in the Wairarapa does a flying quarter:

I don't know how official the results are or whether these can be submitted as speed records at national level or further afield.

IMO the only "soft" record on the books is the 125.....set in fog and light rain.

Was that the old codger with the #111 plate?

I thought that had been beaten a couple of years ago by Ivan at the Wairarapa event

I'll tell him you said that.....

Wouldn't surprise him or me if it has been beaten, but whether that meeting was a record attempt meeting with all the certification required I don't know....
Clock certification, Surveyors report, engine measure certificate....etc etc.

The record Ivan set on his 125 was legit, it was done in Featherston on a back road not suitable for bigger bikes (as Mr Breadmore found out).
Cliffhanger promotions run this event about twice a year (was three but lack of entries).
They usually use Dalefield Road in Carterton around Nov and Feb but something to do with the gradient of the road means times are not "official", but I'm sure if there is enough interest, and you can find a road long enough they may sort something for you.
    Try cliffhanger.org.nz
Hell im keen for a run to, any excuse to go as fast as you can and not have to worry bout Johnny law.
Dont quote me but i think they had their timing gear calibrated to.

The Cliffhanger sprints at Dalefield Road are not "official" For one thing you have to do runs in both directions to get into any recognised record books. Which doesn't happen at Dalefield Road.

    But it's still fun.

Im doing the final assembly of the bike now. wiring and then sign writing next week. It seems that I may be building a drag bike........
There is just so few speed trial events to compete in.

Even the Burt Munro Rally does not have an event for maximum speed. The Ureti Beach event is a flat track MX rather than a speed trial.

There never have been very many flying quarters and as bikes have got faster it has become harder to find acceptable venues.
In Canty we used to have pretty regular events but since things like Kirby's alky fuelled GSXR1100 ran in the high 190mph range on a narrow bumpy country road it has become less attractive to clubs. Even the F3's of the time doing 130 plus mph
was exciting - and an RS125 hitting a gust of sidewind....brown trou time.

true, but they sometimes do have 'official' MNZ record events too

I did beat both 125 records in 2008?? Flying and standing, I ahve spoken to both previous record holders as someone tryed to get theose guys to protest against myne or something but they were both real cool guys and l now have 2 nz land speed records,

Yes Dalefield does them but they are not official as the gradient is more than 3 degrees rise or something like that shame because i was doing over 200kph on my 125 down there
Blindspott are back as Blacklist check them out
