It's owned and run by a church, Baptist I think. I'm not sure that they would approve of a "gang of drunken bikers". Still, wouldn't hurt to ask.

This whole venue & date business is getting f**ing ridiculous, you are never going to please all of the people all of the time. So far a couple of kind individuals (genie, neels & xknits) have offered to "organize" or "check out" potential venues albeit not knowing which weekend might ensure the best turnout. So, to put an end to all this f**king about, I suggest that we ask those people to PM each other then put a deadline in finalizing both the venue(s) and weekend so anyone contemplating can decide to attend or not. Then we can proceed to discussing the important stuff (music, grog, gas stations etc).

Oh, one other thing - since the person contacting the proposed venue is an individual and will presumably make the call whilst sober, why on earth would they make booking for a "gang of drunken bikers"? All they need say is that we are expecting a turnout of 40 motorcyclists wishing to "celebrate an anniversary".

ok as a North islander with the risk of being shot down has anyone looked at the Scout/Guide camps in the nelson region?? there is Paretai up lee valley out of brightwater Here and a couple of scout ones mentioned Here with contact details.

I know the Local scout camp in Wellington has been used by both the Ulysses club, and as a base for a capital coast ADV ride a few years ago.

The good thing is quite often you can get the place to yourself, and most are Rural based. Anyone in nelson want to have a go at contacting them?

Your welcome: hope one is suitable, and vacant. Was just an idea for someone going to check out. As my chances of getting south that time of year are about 5% at best. Have sort of planned on heading down to one of these a few times, but it's a busy time of year!!
