I would assume that very little if anything would have change for the 2012 690's since KTM is (from posts I have seen as well) looking at introducing something to go head on with the BMW's etc.
They bassically get whatever KTM decides to send them. Our market is so small we end up cleaning out the left overs!

Damn, sorry forgot to take that pic of the horn for you today. Will try and remember tomorrow.

I am quite proud of myself, I managed to bleed my clutch today, after finding I had no working clutch the other day, I checked the res on the bars and it was near empty and looked pretty messy. So today I did a full cleanout/bleed of the clutch, and now it works great. Yah for me (shutup, I am proud of myself).

Yeah, was nothing noticeable, but the bike had been cleaned just after my last decent ride. Going to keep an eye on it to ensure its not disappearing again.

[QUOTE=Night Falcon;1130094746]its bin on the drawing board for a while As I understand it. KTM's competiton for the F800 GS and now the Triumph XC 800. From all the snipets Ive read...and there are a few ... it will be the most dirt oriented of the three and is expected to be a Vtwin :. The word is the prototype will make an apearance towards the end of 2012 with production in 2013. Some folk recon we may see something earlier but who knows....heres what they sayin FYI

Yeah I have read most of that thread over the years, but as you say hard to find any info on that thread.

I was going to watch to see if the level has lowered after my next ride, if it has deal with it then.

adding to the thread with my 690E as well

    Hi,
just been catching up on the thread and seeing what you were doing. I've had my 08 690E for a couple of months (bought it off Clintnz's bro) and can't stop raving about how much I love this machine. I had a XR650L before and used that for everything..so was struggling to replace it with an 'everything bike'. I too was waiting and waiting for a 690Aventure BUT actually happy with the enduro.

The plan is to add stuff to it...so that I can do both longer adventure rides, but also strip it down for trail rides.

    So far.

    1. I've come up with a new windscreen design which clips on to the touring screen to give more protection (both wind and rocks from bikes I'm about to overtake). It works very well, and working on the quick release design

    2. Put the Rox anti-vibe risers on...didn't need the anti-vibe as the bike is smooth...but they look cool, and I needed the height to stand on the pegs better.

    3. The bike came with a custom luggage rack attached for the givi top box that works pretty good, but I've now extended some simple aluminium bash bars, each side from that rack down to the pillion bags so that I stop my saddle bags getting nuked by the muffler, and stops the bags on the other side going into the wheel.

    4. Am running a set of the new oxford carbon heated over grips...they rock, and are thinner than the previous version.

    5. Replaced the plastic bash plate with a Flatlands racing plate...that fits really well.

    6. Bought the Rally raid billet fuel cap to replace the lockable one. Getting dirt around the base is more risky for me than lockability (plus the key mecahnism is bloody stiff)

6.5 Also bought the KTM ergo gel seat (fractionally better than original- expensive dissapointment...as rushed the purchase)

    7. Bought the top and bottom tank bolt upgrades.

    8. Installed KTM990 foldable mirrors (seem to virbate less than the originals)

    9. installed a hella 12V power outlet next to the main key for accessories. Then got a hella to cig lighter adapter with usb 5V (from jaycars) so that I can run whatever I want with whatever interface.

    10. Installed KTM foam air filter (like the unifiler but orange) - airbox has been swiss-cheesed and sounds great.

    11. installed LED 'bolts' for getting the white light to the license plate...they are very cool.

Finally...really impressed with the wear and usability of the E07 rear tyre, normally tyres that get mileage suck...but I rode the entire pukemanu with half worn E07, and D605F front...and they did very well PLUS road is smooth. I think I'd get them all again as I always used TKC80's

Hey Vegeman, I've got the steel luggage racks that I made for that bike in the shed if you want them. They should have gone with the bike. They fit under the custom Givi rack & attach in place of the pax footpegs. I whipped them up in a hurry so they're not super pretty if you look too close but they're quite strong & fully tested through 4500km of adv touring. Yours for the cost of freight.

    Pics here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...&postcount=656

If you don't want them they will fit any 690E, just need some bolts. 1st to claim them gets them for cost of freight. It wouldn't take much to make & mount a tail rack off them to hide the ugly top brackets.

    Cheers
    Clint
