Very little detail in the photo. But one might assume (making an ass out of u and me) that the car turned in front of the bike.

Drove past this in the morning today.

This intersection is fuckin treacherous at the best of times. People hurrying to get to work, saw near misses almost every day. People just don't pay attention.

I know speculation is bad and all, but from what I saw (with relation to the positioning of the tarp etc), you could clearly see the bike had hit the car in the passenger door / front left mudguard, i.e. car turned across the motorcycle's path, and he had no time to react.

Sounds like an intersection that needs lights then. Especially considering how much of a mess that intersection is with its dedicated left turning bays etc.

Deepest sympathies to the riders family and friends. Tragic news each time we hear it. I sit here thinking of the cruel and harsh road ahead for their loved ones.

    RIP rider.

Is that one of those miniature bikes you see people riding on the road, sitting barely a few feet high?

Every bikers biggest fear - knowing the one who has fallen. So sorry to hear this. Thoughts are with you, and his / her family.

One of my flatmates has a workmate that is a volunteer ambo officer - he went to this accident and the rider was alive when he got there, rider died pretty much in his arms. At the end of the day he went home to crawl into a bottle of spirits after being very unhappy all day - I don't think that I could do that job!
This is a tragic event that has an affect on everyone involved - my thoughts go out to those affected, especially the family & friends of the rider.

It certainly looks like a SMIDSY caused fatality from the picture in the paper. It looks like the car made a right turn across the path of the motorcyclist that I would guess that he didn't see. Only a guess, subject to revision upon finding out more facts.
