I doubt if it needs removed ... splash a bit of Detol on it ... the fur will grow back. (unless the tail bone is broken, in which case the feeling in the end will have gone already)

Penny for a pound the vet will just splash on some anti-septic and snip off the hanging-off bit.

SHARP dressmaking (dont tell she who owns them first) shears will do the trick ... do it quickly and you MAY avoid getting clawed ... but I doubt that will be an issue ...

Looks like it may have had its tail run over man,
My vet happens to live up the road from me, and he has run his cat over twice now.. but once he ran over its tail, it looked very similar I would suggest going to the vet anyway, Just in case, may need some antibiotics etc

Presumably with your last run-in with a vet, you will be avoiding the place?

Oh yah, Gang banged by the sounds of it haha.
My folks used to have a scrapper it used to come home coughing up multi coloured fur, missing half of its coat, come home one day missing a foot, a few months later it came home with a possum.. Cats are fucking mad mate.
