Analysis please? May be a dumbarse, prat, retread? or retard; but what about his skill?

He wasn't going that fast for the corner - just failed to turn enough. A fairly common situation for inexperienced riders riding in a group and riding beyond their level of skill.
    Here for the ride.

I'm guessing he saw the bikers ahead and his vision went red. Started screwing up his lines, then the corner in question, chopped the throttle and went on the front brake straightening up, quick thinking with the recovery going for the gap, but dodgy as hell.

    Yep,
we all know what he did wrong because at some point in time we did the same, not between two cars, the bad corner bit.

Sums it up well, although it could also be that he was distracted momentarily. Ego is a dangerous trait on the road, you're a long time dead...

    Anatomically speaking

Which sphincter? the inner sphincter or the last barrier to the outside world sphincter?

Either way, damn close and I bet he needed a pack of smokes at the next group stop!!
If I had a GF I'd like only ride 5 times a week!

Yup. Mine involved a fractured Rib. Group Ride. Hel's ass in front of me didn't help

    I did learn though.
