Pilot Road 3 for The Concours 14?

Ok, so Meanie failed to start this thread so I'll do it. Slapped some PR3's on the Connie today so let's see how they go eh?

What did you get out of the 2's - apparently the 3's last longer and stick better!

The tread looks kind of weird.

I stuck a pair of PR3s on my Tiger a couple of weeks back. I had read a negative story about them breaking up in extreme heat conditions. This is not something that could ever be a problem in New Zealand

My experience in wet and windy conditions is that they are heaps better than PR2s (which were previously the best tyre I had ever had). They might have a weird tread pattern however the grip and road holding has truly excellent in all conditions (so far).

A few more ks will give me a better idea, but so far so good

Whey hey - going to follow this thread with interest. Looking at the PR3 for the '14 when I wear out the Diablo Strada on there now.

I heard that generally speaking they were lasting about 5% longer, grip was about the same in the dry but in the wet they were a good step grippier.

Yep, 12k is my target. If they do that and offer other benefits over the 2's then there is a new standard. If they go longer then that will be the icing on the cake. Really hoping not to repeat my Angel experience...

Might take a tad longer than a month - but will either be on a new set or back to PR2's by say Marchish last year...

keep an eye on PR3 cupping

worth following Mr Chips thread on cupping developing on his fairly new tyre.

I have cupping issues on my PR2 (front after 10k) and hoped PR3 would solve all my problems.......

What pressures are you running and how do you ride?

42 rear and 42 front (although have tried 40 on front to get bit more grip over winter). Don't ride very hard ..mix of commuting, quick blasts at weekend and fully loaded trip round East Cape at Easter which did wear tires significantly. Have 11k on the tires so far which I am really pleased about.
