    I've had that, then I get a dirt bike and start missing road bikes and visa versa. I resolved all this by always having both now.

    I switch between the two whenever it suits, sometimes own both or just one, Don't think I've ever been melodramatic enough to mourn my inner biker...

    Yep, after losing my license I dropped the sportsbikes, have an adventure bike which spends most of it's time on the road, but I can explore gravel whenever I want.

    My inner biker doesn't get out to play much. When it threatens to burst forth, my outer biker just tells it to stop it and behave.
