Send out a search party if I dont post within 24 hours.
Begin the search in the dog house, failing that look at stuff that I may be strung up by my balls on...

    Yeah I know!
Motorcycle parts are exempt from customs duty though. I checked
So should be GST only, 15%of $590 is just under $90 isnt it?
MAF shouldnt have any interest in new stuff like that should they?
    Any other charges I've missed?

Call off the search party! Its all OK! I'm alive, and not in any trouble

I thought this approach may be worth a try - and it worked, a recommended course of action to counter unplanned spending, feel free to try it yourself (no promises though - not sure if its 100% efective) :-

Told her that the US/NZ $ meant it was a good time to spend on luxuries, put her onto www.etsy.com and then retreated to a quiet corner with both kids in my arms as protection...

...Leanne was so impressed that she even bought me a couple of T-Shirts off the site as well.

She must be about to leave me, as she gave me beer and took the eldest up to bed for his stories - usually my job. Not back down yet, and her new shopping hasnt arrived so I presume its me thats moving out...

Seriously though - she is friggin' awesome!

    Carbs.....

is it the american spec dr's have slightly different carb? non adjustable needle or something?
Couple of good ones floating round at mo, may upgrade.

both look like they have km on speedo and small taillight/brakelight.

Nah, no major differences. Mine is a Canadian spec bike and came with a Mph speedo originally, and still has the Fugly big back light.
Some of the bracketry around the choke looks a bit different to an NZ bike's version, but the carb itself is the same underneath.
Not worth swapping an NZ spec carb for a US one. Fitting a dynojet kit (or procycle kit) is certainly worth it, but only if you make the pipe and airbox mods as well.

Wishful thinking. They charge gst + import transaction fee $22 + biosecurity levy $11.10 + gst on the last 2 items. So for a $450 US item thats another $127.62 NZ Get this feeling ??

Man, that is so tempting. We're currently between houses. Having sold and not bought yet, there's a reasonable lump of $$$$ sitting idle in the bank. Interest rate is shit, so perhaps I should invest in bike parts....

I somehow think my missus wouldn't be so forgiving.

There is a DRZ250 front end on TradeMe. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-395852116.htm I'm sure these are a 43mm set of forks and have the compression and rebound adjusters like late DR350 forks. Being 43mm they would fit the stock triple clamps.

Anything can be made to fit. With MX forks there's no speedo drive so your'e up for a digital speedo. Also need brackets for the ignition switch and steering stop mods usually. Also with 300mm of travel it will sit the front quite high if you do nothing with the back. And making the DR wheel fit will involve a lot of shagging around or get a RMZ or whatever wheel to fit.
Thats why I posted the DRZ250 front end. I'm pretty sure they are 43mm cartridge forks, same size as the DR650 so would bolt into the original triple clamps saving a lot of work. The DR650 wheel may fit without too much work, otherwise use the DRZ250 wheel and fit a bigger disc kit if the brake isnt good enough. Ive still got the drz400 brake on mine. Its OK just with 2 of us on it. I will swap it for a 320mm supermoto setup soon.

Got a complete 2003 YZ250 USD front end including an excel wheel and new axle and spacers here...
The DR stem can be pressed straight in and the DR brake system bolts up with a tiny bit of calliper grinding....

Got the forks from a dodgy phreak though...

I'd swap the lot for a complete XR400 front end...
