Yeah the holes looked remarkably like the HRC mod and it would explain the lack of trumpets (ie they may have been running HRC ones), but there was no scoop or airbox mod, nor any common sense stuff like mesh screen to keep out sand/bugs...

In all likelihood my mate has bought some munter's failed "race" project that never left the shed

this all took place in AJ's workshop - he didn't have a working set available for sale (swaps only), but did have a bitser where someone tried to fit the carbs with a hammer and broke one of the carb bodies

we probably need a whole tap unit tbh, but thanks anyway

slide me a tenner to cover the post and your address. sing out if you want a photo first: can do.
    pics of the trumpets maybe?

Yes, Rick Oliver supplies a lowering link for the rear shock,
Wouldnt recommend it though these bikes are designed for corners, Everything done to these bikes is for the twists, they would have made it lower otherwise, Im 5'5 and im on the balls of my feet/toes, just make sure you always put your left foot down, keeps your brake covered, and you will never slip up and fall over.

Long story short, The your feet dont touch the ground when your riding, so just ride! haha

Thanks for that, how can i get intouch with this bloke, my partner is only 5' so needs something to get a little more stable when her feet touch the ground, not to worried about the corner speeds at this stage. She has had 10ml added to her boot soles already.
    Cheers.

You have to email him, he takes a little while to reply.
He has the NC30 one listed, but im sure he does the 35 as well, drops 20mm, unless you maybe put a longer spring in the forks I wouldn't recommend dropping them down the tripple as they have alot of travel and youll probably end up smashing the front mud guard into the front cowl

put it up on a stand, take the fork springs out, suck and see. There is not a lot of room between the rads and front wheel at full compression either, from memory.

I know mine on the NC30 gets bloody close,

aren't they already pretty close to the ground?

Have you tired the obvious and wound down the preload front and rear?

.... and to think the most common mod it to RAISE the rear as per HRC spec...

Thanks guys, i have wound down the preload front and rear and have made some good gains.

The problem is that my wife who rides a 250R ninja, finds that ok, that bike has even a higher seat height than the 400, the reason is that the 250 seat is narrower and the 400 seat is wider, and with someone who has a short leg height, it means an extra stretch out in the leg department.
All looks ok now, she seems more comfortable on it.
    Cheers.

All else fails, knock a link or two out of the chain, Or maybe its add one or two, and when you adjust the chain on the rear, it actually raises/lowers the rear depending which way you go, not by much mind you, I have mine sitting as high as I could get it without changing out the shock etc, found it easier to hit the corners a little harder and smoother

    On the note of suspension,
I know there is a common mod for the rear shot, RS 250 shock or some shit,
whats involved, is it a straight swap? how much more height does it add to the rear and how much would one be looking at for the shock?
My rear shock has had it and probably needs a re valve which would cost me similar to a new shock.. so anything cheaper is better haha.

I had the rs250 shock, the bottom of the shock where it links on has to have about 5mm or so shaved off it to fit the nc30 linkages. if you google you'll find the rs250 shock mod. It also raises the rear by about 2cm I believe, I would say more than that, especially if you have an old saggy shock. The stock one I have now is in really good condition and probably only dropped it by 1cm (Though I haven't touched the preload yet)

While youre on that DM, Haydthreen is quite happy to sell you the cbr shock he has, I think its off the 04/05 CBR,RRRRRRRRRR or whatever it is, he wont be using the shock, Look into sizes etc and see if it will fit. fully adjustable, and being off a larger bike might suit your build a little better, seeing as those VFRs seem to have been built for people that weigh about as much as my wife
