I didn't expect it to start in England, but am not too surprised. I do believe it may spread soon to other countries. The financial meltdown of not only the US but also the EU is a breeding ground for civil unrest and anarchy has been simmering away for a while now under the veneer of normality.

Even here, the younger set, i.e. teenagers, have been growing up without any respect for adults, authority or human life. This is world-wide so watch for developments elswhere.

The markets are in panic and just now Obama was on the news talking the US up and slighting the downgrade in an attempt to shore up the USD. Unfortunately he comes across as desperate for something good to happen and has only fueled the feelings of concern.

I think it has been pointed out previously that each successive generation has encouraged declining standards and behaviour - it's not the fault of youth or us baby boomers exclusively.
Each successive generation of parents wants to indulge their offspring (regardless of whether they know it's not particularly healthy or not) and in turn each generation - younger, simply by virtue of being the next generation - gets softer, more demanding and more self-centred.
Obviously that's a generalisation and there will always be those who swim against the tide and become the ones who do wonderful humanitarian works, or discover something beneficial to mankind, or who are just kind, decent caring human beings.

What rips my nightie is the fact that these situations attract friggen hooligans who see it as an opportunistic moment in time to unleash their antisocial behaviour in a way which is difficult to control because of the sheer scale of it.
