    An honest person!

There is at least one honest person left in New Zealand.

Took the bike down to the servo yesterday morning - Gull self service. Did the bizzo and shoved the wallet back in the tail bag.

Decided I needed to clean the visor before going further so pulled the wee bottle of cleaner and the rag out of the bag. Which, unbeknownst to me, also pulled the wallet out and dropped it on the road. Duly finished the visor and departed on the morning ride. Leaving the wallet languishing on the pavement. (Dork head strikes again...)

Two hours later, at home, I discover the wallet is missing. Eventually figured out what must have happened. Given the number of knuckle-draggers that frequent that servo, I figured I had shit show of ever seeing the wallet again. So I rang up the bank and cancelled the money cards. Then spent half an hour thinking about all the other things lost - driving license, firearms license, membership cards by the gazillion etc etc etc...

About an hour later, I'm driving across town and the cellphone rings. 'Tis the local constabulary, ringing to inform me that they have had my wallet handed in to them and would I like to come and collect it? Would I what!

So, Jessica, whoever you are and wherever you live, I am forever indebted to you for saving me a lot of hassle. Thank you.

It's nice to know we still have some honest people in this land.

Yesterday I had some random knocking on the door asking for a mate who no longer lived here. Turns out my mate dropped his drivers licence in town and this guy found it and decided to drop it off at the address written on the licence. Forgot to grab his name but top marks for him taking the time to try and find the owner

There are some great people around! I left my wedding ring and a special ring my daughter bought for me in a public loo in Helensville. I called the Police once I got home and realised what I'd done. To my shock, a local volunteer firefighter had found them and handed them in! Needless to say, I was able to get in touch with him and let him know how much I appreciated what he'd done!

I did that a few years back, and got accused of stealing it. I found it on the side of the road.

Isn't it sad tho that this is such a rare occurrence that it warrants starting a thread on it....

I was working in the Rotorua police station carpark one night years ago and found a female officers wallet sitting on the footpath. Although temptation was screaming at me, I hastily took it inside only to get a "thanks" in a monotone who cares I do things for people everyday sort of way. At least I felt good about myself for a day or two.
