There is at least one honest person left in New Zealand.
Took the bike down to the servo yesterday morning - Gull self service. Did the bizzo and shoved the wallet back in the tail bag.
Decided I needed to clean the visor before going further so pulled the wee bottle of cleaner and the rag out of the bag. Which, unbeknownst to me, also pulled the wallet out and dropped it on the road. Duly finished the visor and departed on the morning ride. Leaving the wallet languishing on the pavement.(Dork head strikes again...)
Two hours later, at home, I discover the wallet is missing. Eventually figured out what must have happened. Given the number of knuckle-draggers that frequent that servo, I figured I had shit show of ever seeing the wallet again. So I rang up the bank and cancelled the money cards. Then spent half an hour thinking about all the other things lost - driving license, firearms license, membership cards by the gazillion etc etc etc...
About an hour later, I'm driving across town and the cellphone rings. 'Tis the local constabulary, ringing to inform me that they have had my wallet handed in to them and would I like to come and collect it? Would I what!
So, Jessica, whoever you are and wherever you live, I am forever indebted to you for saving me a lot of hassle. Thank you.
It's nice to know we still have some honest people in this land.![]()
