Photo printer refuses paper...

Righto all you computer geeks, maybe you have a better idea on this one than my solution - which is to thump it...

I'm trying to print some photos for herself on an Epson "Stylus Photo RX430" printer. I have used this printer gazillions of times with all factors the same as today without a single problem.

Basically, it won't accept the usual paper (Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper). I think it is finding it a bit thick (255gsm) (like me

). I tried another grade (175gsm) and it was fine with that. But I only have the 255gsm in the size herself wants.

I've used this grade of paper in this machine lots of times without a problem. But today it is being a bastard.

My first inclination with things like this is to thump shit out of it but last time I did that to the laser printer I had to take it away to get fixed afterwards...

Should be a setting in advanced somewhere saying 'paper weight' 'media type' or on epson, I think its 'paper-type'

set on 'thick' or 'extra thick'

If that doesnt work, ask over at yahoo answers. Make sure to use all caps and lots of exclamation marks, makes the service much better.

(seriously though, if someone decent is online you should have your fix in a few minutes

If it seems bit tight, you may be putting it in the wrong hole.

When you set up the print in this model's software you check the actual paper. Still doesn't work...

Sounds a bit silly but try warming the paper up, in this weather it's quite likely a tad damp. Bit of a warm up and fan the pages to make sure they're not sticking together, poke them back in and give it a go.

Worth a crack.

I think you might be on the right track but reckon it's the printer that needs to be warmed up

We relocated one of our offices into the open forecourt for a couple of weeks while some office renovations were done

Printer wouldn't print doublesided, tech came in checked it out, said to much dust went away, printer worked fine in the afternoon

Next morning same problem, tech comes back in, he suggested warming the paper which wasn't really possible so one of the guys hooked up a heater aimed straight at the printer the next morning, end of problem

Temp in the forecourt was about 0-2 degrees
