As the YL Factory team is getting on a bit we have decided to employ a new Factory rider. The press release will follow but being hes not quite 10 its a 50 for him for a few years. When it comes to the gear for Factory Riders only the best will do. I spent yesterday prepping the Aprilia RS50..........Watch out Hoogies and Camo you are in trouble (in a few years)!

Just in the process of sticking a gp125 into one of those, am I wasting my time?

They handle real nice if a little weighty. There are two models, the one above which is the goodie with reasonable wheels or can be converted to wider wheels. Or the single sider (& 16" front I think) there you are kind of a bit stuck for wheels & not sure how much the geometry changes when you stick 17s on it.

Yeah this has the 16 front and i've rooted the geometry buy lowering it, as the pilot is under 5" tall. By the time the 16 front is an issue he will be ready for something else, hopefully by then he has a paper round to assist dad or has caught the eye of Steve Ward or Red Fenton!

They handle pretty decently when you have them in stock form. But the 16's are pretty limited for tyre selection and as soon as you start to think about putting a 17 on it, the distance between the forks become a problem. (Basically what dave said) You would get say a FXR front rim in there but not too much else (I could be wrong because i'm a crap engineer - measure it up before listening too closely). I tried changing the forks to RGV150 ones to give me a little bit more clearance as they have smaller castings at the bottom than the stock ones.
But in the end i've chosen to modify the steering stem and put a whole RG150 front end on it. (Probably not the best choice, but i happened to have one doing nothing)
Also the linkages/rear shock have been fucked around with so i'll properly have to have a shock directly to the swingarm. Also my one has a fucked chain adjuster cam and also no sign of a rear brake....
Hmmm one day.... Dirt bikes need a clean up and my RS is begging for a new crank before i continue to ride it.
PS You can run a front slick on the back no worries.

I am looking at a whole front end from a 250 yam that I have sat in the garage, the one with the big single disc, it may be a bit fat and heavy but it should stop pretty well, also mr. TZee is going to help me with the engine so it should have lots of power to make up for the weight.

Presumably a TZR250T 1KT which used a I think single 320mm disc -1/2 an FZR 1000. Should be fine.
