Im thinking it may have had a 6 trumpet fuel injection system (the genuine one at beach hop) kinda in the "hillborn" style, but stubby trumpets. May have to trawl thru my BH photos and find it now!

I'd rather have a decent kit car repro than a "real" one: the real ones are waaaaay too valuable to drive on our roads, particularly with NZ drivers.

There are usually a couple for sale on tardme, sort of between $70 and $100k asking.

Nah, not an FE engine and doesn't look like big-block at all IMHO.

I recognise some of the cars - didn't realise there was another KBer there - and also in his Yank car!

This for some reason reminded me of the GT70. I'm going to clean my brain with the angle grinder to get it out of there.

Motor is Boss 302 (a Windsor with Cleveland heads as a rough explanation)

Wouldn't that give it the funny "boss" set up or am I thinking of the other way round?

And it was a genuine gt40, with a hand built dry sump 427 (i think, my memory is always a bit hazey) rebuilt by the shelby factory, had a couple of vivid scribbles on it, by some dude ive never heard of, Carol Shelby i recall. Same dude owned a Detomaso Pantera parked next to it.
Our neighbour-across-the-road has a De Tomaso Pantera (and a couple of Porsches). The Pantera makes our walls rattle when he starts it up...
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Great looking car but after driving one I found it hard to judge the front as it disappears over the bonnet whan parking, let alone on a gymkarna course.

That '62 Mistral I had was a 'poor mans AC' - Still got that written on the boot. (The Mistral's on TradeMe at the moment, have a look.)

Like a go-kart on steroids, most 'funnest' car I've had.

Not likely. They only built 7 Mk III's, and I'm pretty sure none of them are here.
If that's the one that used to be on show at Gasoline alley, it's a 289 kit based on the Christchurch manufactured kit.
