[Found] Stolen Christchurch - red Hyosung GT250r (19th Aug 2011)

Anyone sees a red hyosung gt250r riding around Christchurch let us know, was stolen some time between 930 and 1130 on Tui street. Pretty distinct its missing a mirror and indicator
    Stolen on August 19th,

The helmet and keys were in the car next to the bike. The car was broken in to and all bike gear taken along with the bike.

Friend of my sister, not sure if he is on here. I think this site gets more coverage than his facebook wall though.

    Edit:

    Still trying to get pics.

It's the right mirror which is missing.

Found my bike!!! So stoked! Only problem is it no longer has a front break as the bastards dropped it a lot so fairing is scratched and no indicator, no mirror and no break. Also the people who stole it say they bought it off someone who they don't know and don't know where they are so they get away with it
Sadness. I hate our justice system. I wish you could just charge the people with the theft when all they can say is "I don't know who gave it to me" FFS!

He’s lucky to get it back!
I hope (but doubt) they get charged, position of stolen property is still a crime isn’t it?

Have a GPS tracker on my bike, it cost me less than my excess would and I can turn it off with my cell, it’ll also send a text if the alarm triggers or it gets moved.
Of coarse I would wait until it stopped moving before switching it off, wouldn’t want anyone getting hurt…

    That will come later…

I was under the impression that receiving stolen goods was an offence? You're just as liable as the bloke who gave/sold it to you. Saves every thief turning around and telling the cops they bought it off their cousin's mate's brother's uncle who was in town for a week and is now overseas permanently..

Either way, good to hear the bikes recovered and hopefully the dodgy shits that 'bought' it get slammed.

It is an offence, but it is less than the theft charge. Community service type crap.

So a slap on the wrist? Fucks sake.. better than nothing though I guess.
What I'd wanna know is at what point the PTB decide to believe these jokers? Realistically, what's to stop any thief saying they found, or were given, or bought the stolen goods and getting off with a minor charge instead of what they deserve?

Bugger, can’t PM you yet! Not enough time on here…
    EBay is your friend!
Not too hard to install but will require a bit of lateral thinking and some knowledge of your wiring system.
Not a waterproof unit ether so where it goes has to be dry.

You also have to balance the need for it to be tamperproof and not be seen, with the need for it to also get a gps lock.

    And maggot,
That was my first thought. I could go steal a car and just say that I bought it off a guy for $50. Don't know who the guy was, and I can't remember where I got it either.
Seems like a pretty shit loophole to me.
