City Wilson car parking no longer free for bikes?

I've been parking in Wilson with the other bikes for a while now. Yesterday on return to the bike found some dude snooping around about to give my bike a fine. Luckily got away with it.

Apparently they are charging bikes now for parking there. Does anyone know if this is going to apply for all the parking around the city?

Which "city" are you referring to specifically?

Ok this is not on. Come back today to grab my chain and find they've snapped everyone's security rings and chains and just tossed them aside? For sure a good few hundred $ of people's property just ruined. There wasn't even chance to collect them; how offensive. Not to mention they weren't even remotely obstructing anything on those railings. I wonder if I can get reparations out of them? That was my only chain.

Guardrails are surprisingly expensive. Especially stainless
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

Yeah cmon man, you haven't even said where it is yet...take some photos and tell us where it is or we'll consider this bollocks. What's the use of bringing something up to warn other people if you don't mention where it is?

I very much doubt a car park wouldn't give any notice of a change in rules and then unlawfully damage vehicles, you could easily take them up in court over that.

One has to guess that Racefactory is referring to Auckland?

Also, if you leave your property attached to their carpark, it is understandable that the owners can "clean up" the place whenever they want to. Keep the chain on the bike perhaps?

Well I don't know where you park a bike but that's the way everyone does it here and there was a good few hundred $ in personal property ruined without even a chance to collect it.

Try contacting the and making a complaint of wilful damage and see how far that gets you.

I'm not here to warn you, whether you think it's bollocks or not. I'm just wondering if other car parks are starting to do this now, to rid harmless bikes.

And of course it's in Auckland, it's the only place that matters!

So you leave your chain chained to their railing even when your bike isn't parked there and you're upset that they removed the chain?

I spoke with Tom from Wilson parking in Auckland who said the only one they charge for motorbike parking in at present is Anzac Ave. It's $65 plus GST per month and is a new programme which could become the norm.

However, Wilson do not own all the carpark buildings they operate and lease most which is why there is free parking for motorbikes in them.

Good info. 65 a month is certainly hefty! Defeats the whole purpose of having a bike really.
